You dare to dream again? What if you could artistically create your dream self but through a mindful reality? I have an event for you to explore the creative parts of you that needs to breathe and dream again. I know y’all are outside this summer Tampa, so while you are out, put me on your activity calendar to come connect with other adults that needs some creative release!

We can create our little measures of stability in the midst of chaos! The “Self-care Sandwich” was a tool I shared yesterday as I sat on the panel of Mindful Perspective “Ask the Expert” virtual event and had the opportunity to speak to providers across the state of Florida about employee wellness in the workplace. I provided this analogy and it seemed to help so many of the attendees, so I wanted to share it here with you all. Share this tool with someone that needs support building a self care routine.

To the Tampa mamas, (parents) I’ll be presenting at the National Alliance of Mental Illness of Hillsborough County’s Youth Minds Matter Event! I’ve noticed I feel more functionally well when I know my child is feeling well. But what about the things they don’t tell you that bother them?

Here’s the thing about growth, you must make room for what you ask for! Dream Identity has partnered with to campaign and raise funds for Art-to-Heart. I will be posting the timeline recap and the journey of Art-to-Heart to explain how we got here and why we need support.

I am now in a point where I have carried this load by myself as far as I could. In order to provide these ongoing services, Art to Heart needs funding for the following:

1. A designated safe space for the youth and adults to attend these groups and workshops.
2. To continue summer camp scholarship funding for parents who need mental health support for their youth.
3. Digital services to expand our resources to other clinicians to help their population and for individuals to have coping resources in their personal care.

There are so many ways to create wellness aside of talk-therapy. Join me as I partner with the local chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority for women connection and to learn intentional coping skills that will foster wellness in our daily lives. The forum is free to attend!

I realize if I’m going to advocate for Minority Mental Health, that I have to address all angles, like how minorities lead in certain chronic diseases. We casually accept these outcomes as, “It’s in my DNA.” Could it also be possible that these are results of our family’s learned way of managing stress?

Last year, I completed a training to become a Certified Chronic Disease Trainer to continue to inform the connection of mental and physical health and provide pain management tools for those suffering in Chronic illness. I am partnering with Lee Health to provide this free virtual workshop for those who may suffer directly or may be a loved one, care taker or provider of those who experience Chronic Disease.
