FORT PIERCE, FLA (August 5, 2024) -- This afternoon, Indian River State College Campus Safety and Security assisted the Fort Pierce Police Department in the agency’s pursuit of a suspect in an off-campus criminal incident. The suspect fled through the College’s Massey Campus and, in the process, dropped a firearm. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Pierce Police and Campus Safety and Security, the suspect was quickly apprehended and arrested. The Campus is secure, and Fort Pierce Police is leading the investigation. This incident demonstrates the effectiveness of Indian River State College safety measures and highlights the strong interagency cooperation that helps keep our college community safe.

This afternoon, an Indian River State College employee received a threatening phone call. Campus Security and local law enforcement agencies responded, and all campuses were cleared of threats.

Campus operations have returned to normal, and Fort Pierce Police arrested a suspect.

Indian River State College is grateful to our Campus Security and local law enforcement, including the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Pierce Police Department, and Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, for working together to keep our campus and our community safe.
