If you aren’t turkey hunting, you might find yourself missing deer season almost as much as we are. So we are going to revisit some of our hunts each week and give the full story from the hunter. Should be fun and help us get through the dog days coming this summer as we start the count down to hunting season!

Congratulations to my oldest son Cole on his first deer with a vertical bow! Hard to find time to get him in the woods with his busy baseball schedule, but we had some free time to sneak out this weekend. He laid the smack down at 25 yards, and we were able to watch her go down from the stand. You can even see the blind in the background. His Phase 4 33 did the trick, with his pink !

Congratulations Mason on a heck of a deer. He and his dad have been after this deer for two years and he finally made a mistake. His mistake being walking in to 22 yards while Mason had his Mission Sub 1 at the ready! We probably won’t ever see another 2x2 like that one! Congratulations to both Father and Son!

I put momma in the stand to hunt this particular deer yesterday evening. He had been frequenting it the last week and was there during daylight yesterday morning. I dropped her off early around 2 pm and Cason and I headed to a blind to fix a camera that had not sent a picture all week. I fixed the camera as Cason climbed in to the blind and I noticed the corn was all gone from the morning so I was just hopeful we would see something for Cason’s sake. He hasn’t been hunting that much, and I wanted him to see some deer for the learning experience. We saw a doe around 5 pm and about 15 minutes later this guy stepped out. I was shocked that this deer had walked over 3/4 of a mile from where he was this morning and the whole week prior and just so happened to walk by my stand. I told Cason, “uh oh, I’m about to shoot your mommas buck”, he chuckled and said “do it”. I was able to make a good shot on him at 32 yards with my Core SR. I immediately texted Nichole and said “your deer isn’t going to show up there tonight because I just shot him”. I knew she would be just as pumped for me as she would if she had gotten the chance. We all 3 found the deer and I couldn’t have made the drag if Nichole wasn’t there to help. It was very special to be able to share that experience with both of them, but extra special to have Cason in the blind with me, and it’s always special to be able to take an old mature deer like this. Thank you God for this opportunity and for blessing and providing for our every need. Thank you Nichole for allowing me to pursue and live out my dreams, I love you!
