Music has been a significant part of Sam "Shake" Anderson's life, but his battle with cancer forced him to deviate from his path. After undergoing brain surgery, Anderson lost his ability to play music, which was devastating for him. However, visiting the JPS Oncology & Infusion Center gave him hope and renewed his belief that he could pursue his passion for music once again. “If there is a small glimmer of hope, we try to push the patients to it. That became a part of his visit; we’d talk about his cancer, treatment, and his music, and you can tell that was a big motivator for him.” - Bassam Ghabach, MD, Medical Director, Oncology
Laura Kane is a true embodiment of the phrase, "I am not my diagnosis."
