The stroke of pen and brush communicates. Each a different way. Take a look. EXPRESSIONS in BRUSH and PEN
Welcome
The stroke of pen or brush communicates.
Each in a different way crafts a message. The pen articulates messages of instruction, inspiration, or introspection. The brush stimulates emotional reactions that find expressions in fantasy, relaxation, or dormant memories. One compliments the other in the human experience. Words paint pictures, but art allows the viewer to personalize the experience. The limitations of the pen give way to artis
A Last Time to Love
A popular TV personality and former pro athlete recently encountered the trauma of a grown daughter’s bout with cancer. The event generated studio conversations and banter of concern from network associates. The shock of the event was verbalized by many, but one unidentified comment seemed to hang in the air. Someone observed, “There is never a last time to love.” The insightfulness of the observation concluded, true love supersedes time, and is unencumbered by perceived earthly margins. “There is no last time to love.” The succinct statement seems to linger in the air and proffers hope even for those with a perceived hopeless disease or debilitating sin. The spirit of the statement has divine implications and was so appropriate for the moment. Written in the sacred indelible Word of the sacrificial sufferings of our Lord was an indelible promise of love divine with no earthly perimeters. The impending limitations of man’s attempt to love God with heart and soul, while exercising a love for earth’s unlovely is an earthly attempt to perform an unearthly, divine exercise. Mankind’s mastery of divine love is impaired by the earthly, it only reaches fruition when divinely endowed. The statement, “There is never a last time to love!” embarks us on our eternal journey from loving the lovely to that of loving the unlovely. Don Ramsey

“I thought”
The marvel of thought is the mind’s ability to conceive. Conceptions become opinions, and opinions influence and direct our actions. Disappointments are a betrayal of our expectations. Christians, by nature of their relationship to Christ, are “expectants”. We hope and believe that something good is about to happen. We frame it with the disclosure, “I thought”! A conception becomes an opinion and an opinion can influence and dictate our actions. Disappointments betray our expectations. “Stinkin Thinking” colors optimism another shade of grey. The Lord reminded us that His thoughts and ways do not always conform to ours, because His ways are of a heavenly origin that contradict the ways of the flesh and the world. Another oversight that enforces the fallacy is the fact the trash receptacle of our lives is running over with the “what might have been” in our lives. Paul reminded believers to let this mind be in you (Philippians 2;3-11). The Psalmist declared, “I Thought on my ways and turned my feet unto thy testimony” (Psalms 119:59). Responsible leadership is not about being the best, it is about making everyone else better. The marvel of thought is the mind’s ability to conceive, to exemplify and express our comprehension of life’s realities. Paul reminded believers to let this mind be in you (Philippians 2:3-11). The Psalmist declared, “I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimony (Psalms 119:59). Leadership, itself, is not about being the best, it is about making everyone else better. All in pursuit of overcoming our personal challenge - conforming our mind to His likeness (Philippians 2:5). It may be that our Achilles heel is a “Thinking Problem!” David Ball co-wrote “Thinkin Problem” with Allen Shamblin. It captures the dilemma of a repetitious thought as one that goes “round and round” The cyclic nature of a lingering memory can be all consuming and lead to ill-advised choices and decisions. “Man Will Live Forevermore Because of Christmas Day!”
Jeter Hairston penned the Christmas song entitled “Mary’s Boy Child” in 1956. It captured, as no other song, the dynamic of the immediate efficacy energized by the birth of the Christ child. The title of the song tells the story of the virgin born Savior; mankind’s only hope for pardon. The forcefulness of the message, offering eternal hope for man’s eternity, was indeed a stellar moment in human history. We spend our lives as a tale that is told, with the hope of lasting outcomes and constructive consequences. We are benefactors of insights that reveal the perimeters of what life really is in the eyes of an eternal God. Eternal time reflects a continuum of time that dwarfs our imaginations, the irony of which, its duration is also defined as a tale that is told. We do not know the years of our existence, but we are aware of the possibility of threescore and ten, with an additional four years. We do not know the number of days we are allotted, but we are aware of the task of recognizing and cherishing the significance of each day we are personally given. (Psalms 90:10-12). Our apprehensions are quickly assuaged by certain conditions of time that extend life. The concept of ”time eternal” dwarfs our imaginations. Yet when compared to God’s omnipresence it is more than a tale that is told. Before the marvel of time, or the majesty of God’s creative act, God was fully cognizant of the reality of an eternal existence. Christians, all too often, stumble through life with doubts, fears, and reservations regarding the dynamics of faith (Romans 10:17). The title of this article, and the hymn selection it features, are indicative of God’s wisdom, power, pleasure and work. It distinguishes mankind’s creation as the handiwork of a divine creation. As Christians, we live on earth the best life possible, to be followed with the blissfulness of an eternal existence with God. Amen and Amen! Don Ramsey
God Hates Me!
Bad choices due to irresponsible decisions and, or sin, can reap a harvest of misfortune, disappointment, and desperation that can conflict one’s life with seeming impossible consequences, for which one questions whether God cares for their plight in life. It is disconcerting, and most likely receives the applause of every evil intent conceived by the conspirators of Satan. Adversities in life are opportunistic to serve Satan’s scheme to separate mankind from his Maker. Misfortune, misconceptions, and perceived failure impact the miraculous. Satan’s cunning deception preempts fact before the presumptuous act. The actuality of which personalizes the fraud. The frequency of this ploy is evidentiary in our exploits with faith. Doubt is faith’s killing menace. It commences with, “Did God say?” Doubt is forceful and will render all Godly initiatives as fodder. This is true, whether it is a spiritual, or a professional objective. “God hates me”, is Satan’s award-winning deception. The fact is, God loves sinners but hates sin. Saying we love God is not necessarily a believing faith. It is only an expression of the will and may be only a façade for the benefit of others. God loves sinners and proves it at Calvary. He literally held the world in his hands when He gazed through earth’s atmosphere to observe His only begotten Son hanging helplessly by Roman spikes on a cruel cross of designed pain for mankind’s folly in sin. A scene so gross angels surely folded their wings in despair, as Satan reveled in His own debauchery of deceit. Any doubt on our part regarding God’s love should smite our heart’s ineptness to know that God’s love for us is indescribable, undeserved, and more certain than tomorrow’s sunrise. Christians must never be deceived to believe that life’s injustices are compatible to God’s sacrificial suffering for mankind. Don Ramsey
