Kouign Amann (pronounced "queen ah-MANN") is a sweet, rich, and buttery French pastry from Brittany that originated in the mid-19th century. The name translates to "butter cake" and is made with layers of laminated dough, salted butter, and sugar, and has a flaky, crispy crumb and a caramelized, sticky exterior.
