Using the BITS (#Bioness integrated therapy system) in occupational therapy to work on visual scanning, divided attention, bimanual coordination, and visual motor reaction speed as pre-driving skills. The client here is directed to locate and tap the target as quickly as possible using both hands, while also being mindful of the center stimulus and tapping it if it changes. Other ways to upgrade this further: - stand on an unstable surface to add a balance challenge - change the stimulus to numbers and have the client complete addition/subtraction to the numbers for a dual task challenge - change the stimulus to letters and have the client offer words that start with each respective letter - decrease the flash time of the stimulus in order to encourage increased reaction time - add visual or audible distractions in the background We are so grateful for the BITS and the variety of ways to tailor each task! #occupationaltherapy #drivingrehab #visualscanning #dividedattention #visualmotorcoordination #reactiontime

One of our amazing OTs fabricating a thumb spica splint for a client. This allows her to stabilize her thumb in a functional position for grasping and pinching. Splinting can be beneficial to increase range of motion, improve alignment of a joint, decrease pain, or provide stability. Ms. Gloria is excited to get her new Dynasplint Systems, Inc for home to help with finger and wrist extension. She reported decreased tightness in her arm and hand after only the initial 20 minutes of wear!
