Lisa rocks!

Meet Lisa, Hospice Volunteer in Fredericksburg!

Lisa grew up in Alexandria, Virginia and has lived in the Stafford/Fredericksburg area for 35 years. She and her husband will celebrate their 40th anniversary this month! Together, they have three wonderful children (as well as their amazing spouses) and three beloved grandsons. Before retiring in 2020, she operated a home daycare/preschool for 32 years.

She enjoys the beach and mountains, but Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Zion, Bryce, and Joshua Tree National Parks are all favorites of hers. She loves to fish on the Rappahannock River with her husband. They also enjoy riding their E-Bikes, traveling, and spending time with their kids and grandsons. She likes to watch Netflix. Some of her favorite shows have been Apples Don’t Fall, Six Feet Under, Ted Lasso, Virgin River, and Schitt’s Creek.

Lisa volunteers at her grandson’s elementary school, as well as AT Home Hospice. She is a substitute teacher for Fredericksburg City Schools and was also a member of Fred Area Service League. She has always had a fondness for seniors. Her best friend of 35 years passed away in 2015 at the age of 96, and she missed visiting her at her assisted living facility. After she retired, Lisa decided to find some new seniors to fill her void. AT Home Care and Hospice provided training and did a complete background check, as well as lab work, to ensure patient safety.

She says, “I enjoy looking at pictures of my patients and their family. I also like to encourage them to share their interests and stories of their life chapters. When I leave my patients, it is rewarding to know that I’ve made the hour I’ve spent with them more engaging and interactive. I highly recommend being a Hospice Volunteer!”
