We will heading back to Perry on Sunday to be present and BE THERE with those who are grieving, bringing them comfort, love, friendship, hope, and prayer.
In response to the shooting that occurred yesterday at Perry High School in Perry, Iowa, LCC-affiliated churches, LCC staff, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog teams, and Hearts of Mercy & Compassion volunteers came together to make a plan to BE THERE for the community. Their actions are inspired by their faith and guided by an overwhelming desire to help those in need. Several LCC K-9 Comfort Dog teams immediately started preparations to deploy.
The LCC K-9 Comfort Dog team from Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont, Nebraska, with Katie Comfort Dog and Phinehas Comfort Dog, was present last night at two candlelight vigils, bringing love and comfort to the community gathered to support each other.
Lutheran Church Charities has been invited by Lynsi Pasutti, Executive Director of Perry Chamber of Commerce, to bring additional LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs, as well as LCC Hearts of Mercy & Compassion, to the shocked and hurting community that this horrific event has greatly impacted.

The teams will place a Heart of Mercy & Compassion and cross in Perry to honor the memory of the 6th-grade student who was killed and will present Hearts of Mercy & Compassion to the first responders who serve and protect their community.
We pray that these Hearts will serve as a reminder that people across the nation love and support them and that the community finds solace in the presence of these comforting reminders of the hope we find through Jesus Christ.

It was a great evening as over 200 women and 6 LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs gathered at a Womenβs annual missionary Christmas event in Grand Island NE. Each year they feature a different missionary and this year the Comfort Dogs were invited! Dawn Gilfry, my top dog (and team Katieβs) was the guest speaker and she told them all about how we are a bridge to bring comfort to those hurting as we share Jesus. Lots of singing, petting, learning, and then eating dessert made for a fun evening!
Thank you Moses Comfort Dog, Nicodemus Comfort Dog, Priscilla Comfort Dog, Eddie Comfort Dog and Katie Comfort Dog for being there to help shine your light for Jesus!
Praying ππΎπ
Heavenly Father,
We come before you today with heavy hearts, burdened by the tragedy of the shooting at UNLV today that has shattered lives and left us in a state of shock and sorrow. We seek your comfort and guidance in these difficult times, as we pray for the victims and their families who are suffering.
Lord, we ask for your divine presence to surround those who have been affected by this senseless act of violence. Embrace them with your love, comfort them in their grief, and grant them the strength to endure the pain and loss they are experiencing. Be with them in their darkest hours and give them hope.
We also pray, Father, for the law enforcement agencies who risk their lives each day to protect us. May your guiding hand be upon them, leading them in their efforts to protect the innocent and restore peace.
We pray for the medical staff who will be attending to the injured. You are the Great Healer, guide their minds and hands with the skills you have entrusted to them.
We also pray for a world where such acts of violence cease to exist. Help us all to work towards a society where love, compassion, and understanding prevail, and where lives are cherished and respected.
In Jesusβ Name, Amen

Be Thankful
Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something, for it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations,
because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge,
because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes.
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and weary, because it means you've made a difference.
It's easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks.
Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles, and they can become your blessings.
