Growing hydrangea in Fresno requires a perfect location (morning sun and afternoon shade) and lots of watering during the summer. They do not like to dry out so it’s important to keep the soil moist at all times. Mulching helps.

The garden is glorious after a long wet spring

Hello!! It’s been awhile since we’ve been on here. Spring roses are right around the corner and we have so much work to do in the garden. If you haven’t started pruning your roses, this is the time to do it. We had so much rain and windy days the past few weeks that fence I put up 10 years ago came down!! The next few weekends will be dedicated to pruning, weeding and creating a new support for the climbing roses.

Enjoying these roses, freshly cut from the field, while I work today. We expanded our rose collection from 200 plants to over 400 plants by growing them at my parents farm .

We’ve expanded our rose collection from 200 to 400 bushes! These blooms are from the new patch we are growing at my parent’s farm in Sanger. If these roses continue to grow at the rate they are now, we might even be able to cut them in the fall.

When we started Seed and Bloom Floral, we didn’t know if we would keep it a small passion project or dive right in and go for it. Over the past month, we’ve had so much fun meeting other flower lovers and sharing our roses and knowledge of roses with people in the Valley and we’ve decided to go all in.

We can’t wait to be able to expand our offering of garden roses to florists and flower enthusiasts. These are special flowers that are often very expensive and hard to find as they are not grown to be shipped thousands of miles.

Jennifer and I will be going to this! Come and join us. We’ve purchased roses from them last year and the plants are doing well in our gardens.

Thank you all for your support! We pretty much cut every rose in the garden with this first flush the past 5 weeks! We are getting ready for the second flush and this beauty will be the first to give us roses. This is Roald Dahl bred by David Austin!! Such a cute medium size rose and a prolific repeat flowering rose! It has a apricot color and smells like tea! I’ve had Roald Dahl in my garden for 5 years and he does not disappoint. He is a good size shrub about 4 feet tall and 4 feet wide. Look at all the new growth and new buds!! It’s very exciting!!

A late post to wish you all a Happy Mother’s Day. On Mother’s Day we visited to grab ourselves a few more DA roses to add to our collection. Our favorite: Charles Darwin, a rose that starts out dusty pink and matures to an antique cream. It’ll be beautiful paired with Koko Loko and Honey Dijon, and Distant Drum.

Jenn and I can’t believe we grew all of these flowers. Experiencing flowers in the garden and seeing them gathered into buckets is so gratifying.

Hello flower friends! Thank you all for supporting our spring flower season. The spring flush of flowers is coming to an end. This is very likely one of the last baskets of flowers we will cut until the next flush in early summer for graduations and end of school year celebrations. Unfortunately, we only have a limited supply of flowers for Mother’s Day. If we messaged you, we have flowers set aside for you. If you’d like a bouquet for Mother’s Day, come by during the pop-up this Thursday from 8-10 am . Thank you to for inviting us. We can’t wait to meet local growers and flower lovers.

As the temperature climbs the spring flush of roses will come to and end. From now until it cools down again in the fall, the heat will set the blooms quickly so the roses will not be as big.

We will have one last pop up event this upcoming Thursday for Mother’s Day. Come and grab one of our last spring bouquets.

When we first moved into this house, part of the the front yard was just dirt. After three years, a lot of sweat equity and many trips to the nursery I finally have my very own English garden.

Seed and Bloom Floral is excited to announce our Self-Care Saturday Series. Every Saturday we will give tips on how to incorporate gardening into your self care routine as well as host workshop and events in our garden that promote health and wellness. We can’t wait to meet you all and redefine self-care.

For today’s Self-Care Saturday we want to be mindful and intentional about celebrating Earth Day!! One way to practice self care is to spend time outside. Life can get so busy managing work, family, instagram/Facebook that we forget how fun it is to just be outside. Earth Day is a reminder of how beautiful and amazing our planet is. Take in deep breaths of the fresh air, go for a walk, have lunch outside, read a book in the back yard, plant flowers or a tree. Please share with us how you embrace self-care and Earth Day by sharing a picture of you being outdoors with us.

This is Princess Alexandra of Kent bred by David Austin! She was my first DA rose over 10 years ago and I fell in love!! She is a large shrub about 5 feet tall and 5 feet wide right now will get larger throughout the season. I gave her a good pruned this year about 2 feet tall and only kept about 4-5 strong stems. She has a petal count if 130 and had a strong tea fragrance. She is in full bloom right now, DM if you would like a bouquet! Also, you all get my Hmong pose with my rose today!

We have bouquets of roses available this weekend for pick up. We will be at Sunshine’s Farm Saturday from 9-1 pm. DM us to reserve a bouquet for Easter. $20 for a petite arrangement. $30 for 12 stem, $45 for a 18 stem arrangement in a vase.

This is Bathsheba an English climbing rose bred by David Austin. She is one of my favorite rose! She has Large blooms and about 170 petal count. She is considered a short climber getting up to 10 feet. I’ve had her for about 4 years now and she is about 7 feet tall. I kept her as a shrub for the first two years and finally last year let her double in size. She has a long vase life and her colors fades to a creamy color.

The weather this week is perfect for the (1) peonies, (2) creeping daisies, (3) painted fern, (4) hydrangea, and (5) snow in summer flowers. They are loving the cool crisp air.
