What if the adversity that seems so big and heavy for your athlete right now is actually the life lesson that’s preparing them for what’s to come?

What if that starting lineup they can’t seem to get their name on is how they learn that they have to work harder to earn their way to the top?

What if that huge loss becomes the foundation on which they build to earn that bigger win down the line?

What if that play they blew in the big moment of the game is the thing that gives them the empathy to support a teammate when they find themselves in the same spot one day?

What if that coach with whom they don’t connect is the experience they need to prepare them for that working relationship with a future boss that might be tough to navigate?

What if that time off from an injury is what they needed to learn to better appreciate the moments when they’re out there doing what they love?

What if…

… this is the whole point of youth sports?

For our kids learn how to win in sports and in life by learning from the losses.

It doesn’t mean it makes it any easier to navigate, but when we can see the big picture, it can give us the perspective we need to go through it with more hope for what’s to come.

So if your athlete is facing adversity right now — and it feels heavy for all of you — remind yourselves that it may just be setting them up for a bigger win down the line.

Legacy Softball season ended one game too early, but we have no complaints. This group was a blast to work with, and the growth we saw in players was phenomenal. They worked so hard, put in the effort, the sweat, the conditioning, even under the pressure of a 3-peat. Our Softball Family grew by 12 freshmen this season. We are the first Legacy Softball team to compete in the State Tourney three times, and did it consecutively. The stats below speak volumes. To think this program almost died out a few years ago is baffling to me. I’m encouraged for the future as we move up to Division 1-6A next season. The ladies are ready to put in the work and punch that ticket to the State Tourney again next year! Our Softball Family Rocks!

🌟 Senior Spotlight: Lexi Thomas 🌟

Lexi has been a part of the Legacy Christian Academy family since Kindergarten. She has been actively engaged in various extracurricular activities such as NHS, Principal Advisory Council, LEAD Legacy, Worship Team, Bridge Builders, Green Club, and Girl's Bible Study. Additionally, she served as captain for the Track and Field, Volleyball, and Softball teams.

Throughout her time at Legacy, Lexi learned to prioritize her relationship with the Lord above all else. She credits every coach, teacher, teammate, and friend for instilling the importance of intentionality and serving God in all endeavors. Furthermore, Legacy has equipped her with invaluable skills in time management and discipline.

Looking ahead, Lexi is excited to continue her academic and athletic journey at Pepperdine University, where she will be running track and studying International Business and Psychology.

🌟Senior Spotlight: Kat Smith 🌟

Kat has been a part of the Legacy Christian Academy community since Pre-K 3. Throughout her time at LCA, Kat has been actively involved in various extracurricular activities and organizations. She has been a member of the LEAD Legacy Community Team and served as the Co-Chair of the Special Events Team. She has also showcased her athletic abilities as a member of the Varsity Softball Team. Academically, Kat has excelled and is a member of the Spanish Honor Society, the Spanish Club, and the Eagle Green Club. Furthermore, she has embarked on meaningful service experiences, including her capstone project with 25Project and participation in Journey mission trips to the Dominican Republic. Kat has been blessed with amazing teachers, coaches, and advisors who have invested in her growth and development. Their support and guidance have not only enriched her education but have also nurtured her personal and spiritual growth. As a result, Kat feels confident and well-prepared to navigate her college journey academically and spiritually, equipped to defend her faith.

In the fall, Kat will be attending Baylor University, where she plans to major in Elementary Education.

🌟Senior Spotlight: Jackie Purtell🌟

Jackie has been a part of the Legacy Christian Academy community since 11th grade. She excels both on and off the field, playing varsity softball for the Lady Eagles. In addition to her athletic achievements, Jackie was a member of the first-ever Honors LCA Mock Trial team, which advanced to the State competition. Reflecting on her time at LCA, Jackie acknowledges the significant impact of the Christian experience, which has strengthened her faith and brought her closer to God. She also values the inclusive community involvement at LCA, which has allowed her to forge meaningful friendships and connections.

Next fall, Jackie will continue her softball career playing for Oklahoma City University. She plans to major in Pre-Law, with aspirations of working for NASA as an attorney specializing in aerospace law or the Air Force JAG corps.
