THE GUILT OF FREE TIME!
🍃When you were a child, I’m sure there’s one thing you’ve heard multiple times.🍃

‘If you don’t work hard, you won’t survive this life.’

This belief is imbibed in many out there, that as adults you think of free time as a luxury. If you’re not in front of the laptop for a minimum of 8 hours, then you have life easy.😏🙄

Even in today’s fast moving virtual world, smart 🧠work isn’t given the same importance as hard work.

Books 📚like “The 4-hour Workweek” are much known and talked about, but you don’t see many actually implementing it; nonetheless, today I want to talk about how this belief structures itself into our subconscious.🤔

The constant thought that hard work alone will help you in life transforms itself inside the subconscious as: Hard Work = Success; which means Anything Else = Failure/Loser.⚡️⚡️

Even though no one consciously thinks this every second of their life, the subconscious adopts to a lifestyle where you actively seek hard work.
When a person seeks hard work, “Free time” comes at a price.💲

You are constantly doing hard work, while always complaining that you don’t have any free time to watch a series on Netflix.
But when you get time to watch a series, you guilt yourself into feeling like you wasted all those time, when you could’ve done something productive.

The irony is:👀
Free time spent cribbing about how free you actually are negates the fun or relaxation you could’ve had. Now, you’ve had zero fun & you did zero work.

This limiting belief makes one question how working less hours can lead to success. Don’t victimize yourself to stay busy.🚫

The first step to changing this limiting belief is to start enjoying your free time without any guilt. It is to understand that you deserve fun & relaxation as much as the work (hard or smart) you do.😇💛

🧐As women, we are taught to be a certain way. Adhere to the societal standards of how women should be.

And the rising talks on feminism isn’t making it any easier either.

❌No, I’m not here today to talk about feminism or how it’s ok for women to feel angry.

I’m here to talk about how our mind perceives anger, irrespective of the gender.✅

During one of my inner work sessions recently, I thought to myself that it’d been almost 2 years since I was angry.

I stopped myself at that thought and asked, ‘What does being angry look like to me?’🤔

I immediately pictured me yelling at someone, anyone. It’s funny how our mind displays this emotion. Anger loses its value if it isn’t directed at someone.

👉We never say, ‘I was angry at the table for knocking me over’
👊We’d say, ‘I’m angry at X for putting the table here in the first place.’

Getting back to my story, I was surprised that I hadn’t yelled or fought with someone for so long.

So, I pondered if I was suppressing all my anger only to hear myself say ‘No’❌❌❌

So then where was my anger for 2 years? Or
Have I attained some kind of enlightenment to not feel anger anymore?

Naah!😆
The answer was right in front of me.

All the subconscious ever asks is for - Evidence
As humans, we live inside our own bubble of beliefs, values, past experiences & learnings. While we are busy inside that bubble, we turn a blind eye to others’ bubble.

The perspective others are going through makes the most sense to them just like ours. When we learn to see others' bubble - their values, their beliefs, their limitations, their experiences & learnings, you start viewing the bigger picture.

When this proof is presented to our subconscious, it understands situations & circumstances in a better view.

When you try to understand, there’s no place for anger there.🧎‍♀️
The difference is, instead of suppressing the anger, you show your subconscious the proof to not trigger anger.⚡️

That doesn’t mean I don’t feel irritated or frustrated at times. That’s the cue when you begin looking for the evidence. Because the next step is anger.🙆‍♂️

🍂This is how the Subconscious Mind perceives Success!

Each of us have our own understanding as to what success means to us.
👇
Back when I was working for this leading Indian giant organization right after my masters, I thought I’d be making so much difference & if I could impact even one life, then that’s success to me.

😓I slogged for 14 hours a day to only do manual work which could’ve been delegated easily. I just didn’t have anyone to delegate it to.
🙆For 6 months I struggled my way through it & eventually pitched an idea that would eliminate all this manual work.

I delivered on my idea only to hear my superiors say, “This is brilliant but you still have to continue with the manual work alongside your new idea.”😎

I went on to carry this same pattern onto my next job too.💁‍♀️

We are so worried about disappointing our superiors, that we fail to focus on the things that make all the difference.👀
And we wonder, why we have self-doubts & imposter syndrome……
💯
Each of us, in the sum total of the 100% of work that we do, only 5% of it takes us to success. The remaining 95% of work can be delegated or compartmentalized.🧠🤔

Successful people all around the world, focused on these 5%.

♾️For ex: a photographer, focusing on the website design for days will do no good, if he/she do not have the quality equipments to take the photos.

The website is part of the 95% & purchasing quality equipments falls within the 5%

♾️A professor’s 5% would be preparing quality content to deliver to students.
The 95% would be uploading their grades into excel.

The 5% is always priority!⭐️
Of course, it doesn’t mean that the 95% is meaningless work. No!
But….

Without that 5%, the 95% doesn’t matter.
It’s like shooting an arrow with no target.🏹❌🎯

🙌I’m a firm believer that any dis-ease in our body has its roots within our mind. 🧠

When we learn to change the way we think, these dis-eases vanish.
I’m a living proof of that.🫶

Over the course of time, I’ve come realize that just the mind, although powerful requires some assistance to heal of us our dis-eases.🍃

That assistance comes from: Diet & Exercise
Every food has energy that can get us up or bring us down. ⬆️⬇️

A few years back, I had this severe gut problem. I couldn’t sleep at night and one can hear my gut trying to digest food. It went on all night.😖🧐

So, I did my research & started trying different things to see what actually affected my gut.

📍Week 1 - I prepared & had meals earlier so allow time to digest before I went to sleep
📍Week 2 - As I ate earlier, I cut gluten out of my diet
📍Week 3 - I stopped having caffeine after 6PM
📍Week 4 - I gave up eggs
📍Week 5 - I started feeling little better about my gut, so I reduced my intake of dairy products

As a vegetarian (eggetarian) Paneer was a main source of protein. So giving it up was difficult.

📍Week 6 - I shifted to a plant-based diet
📍Week 7 - I stopped having tea the first thing in the morning
📍Week 8 - I started my day with green juice.

👀I can keep adding to these…
Fortunately, my gut problem had vanished altogether.
✨Of course, I kept up with my exercises & staying active throughout the day.✨
Did my inner work to keep my mind healthy. Practiced affirmations on health.💜

You cannot achieve one without the other. If you did, it wouldn’t stay long-term.🙌🫶

What does it mean to "Approve of Yourself"?

🥰When you approve of something it means you like HOW, WHAT & JUST the way things are.

For ex:
You approve a report cause you feel it’s good & it conveys what it has to. You approve a person/relationship cause you like the person, their attitude, their capabilities or just the way they live their life.✅💁‍♀️

🌊But when the tables are turned, you fail to show the same consideration to YOURSELF. Instead of approving yourself just the way you are, you find faults, you feel you should be like someone else or you constantly doubt yourself.❌🆘

It’s high time we all agree to the fact that no one is perfect. Everybody is doing "their 100%"👌How much ever that is.

So, if you’re doing your 100% then you should be proud of that. You should be proud of how you are, your personality, your skills, even your MISTAKES because you learned something from them & that makes you a better person than so many others out there.🫵🫶
You should be proud of:
📌the qualities you possess
📌the hard work you put in
📌the chores you perform everyday
📌the care you show others
📌the duty you fulfill each day
📌the investment you make for your job/business or at home.

There’s a thin line between feeling assertive about yourself & feeling arrogant about yourself.

You don’t have to feel like you are better than others - that’s arrogance.❌

When you approve of who you are, just the way you are; you are asserting to your subconscious that you trust & believe in you more than anyone else. When your subconscious sees that happening, it helps eradicate SELF-DOUBT all by itself.

Just think of the person you are, the challenges you’ve faced, the learnings you’ve received & the willingness you hold and ask yourself this:

“Do I approve of this version of me?”🤔

If you do, then start being & feeling proud about it. You’ll see how self-doubt won’t stand a chance.🥰💛

🍃Until a few months, I had this morning routine that I’d habituated. The moment I woke up in the morning, I wouldn’t even look at my phone & just directly jump into the shower & start my day.

☕️
Having a cup of fresh morning tea & my laptop was how I started my work. I felt fresh in the morning & this routine saved time so I can attend my chores later in the day with the ease of knowing how much work I got done. 📈

But I’ve always wanted to include certain items to this morning routine.

Like- 👇🏻

✅Have plant-based juice on an empty stomach

✅Journal every morning

✅Do light workout like a run in the morning

Somehow these items weren’t consistent with the routine I’d already set.

3️⃣
Three months ago, I attended this mind-blowing workshop, where I came across this question.

“Is the serving you?”❓❓❓

I asked myself if this routine was serving me in where I see myself or with my vision.

No!❌

The future version of me who has achieved everything I desire, wouldn’t be successful with this existing routine.

So I challenged myself to change this habit.💪

It took some time. The mornings weren’t as fresh it used to. Giving up tea as the first beverage of the day was excruciating. But in a matter of 2 weeks, I couldn’t remember any of these.

🍃Breathing fresh air as I took a stroll in my backyard is refreshing.

🍃Having fresh juice makes me feel light in the body & healthier

🍃Writing my thoughts down before rushing into work helps me align my goals for the day with my vision

🍃Finding the time to cook a healthy, good breakfast makes me grounded & grateful.

And…. I couldn’t have found a better way to start my day.💜

Stop blindly doing things just cause it’s become a habit.💁🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♀️

Ask yourselves - ‘Is this habit serving me?’❓

💡Your subconscious is 95% responsible for your reality, whereas the conscious is only 5%. 💡

The things you do on auto-pilot, without realizing is what influences the subconscious mind.

🫣Habits that you aren’t self-aware of can generate negative thoughts, like, storing old receipts in your wallet/purse for too long. This indicates that you are not yet ready to let go, clean up & make space for new things in life.🧹🧹🧹

The best way to influence your subconscious is through ENERGY⚡️⚡️⚡️

Another example:

Notice your immediate reaction (habitual & on auto-pilot) to someone getting a car/job/money that you desire.
Are you genuinely happy for them or you come up with a list of excuses to why that other person didn’t deserve it?

Can you look at them & say, ‘Oh wow, he/she deserved to buy that car or house’

Do you see it as a proof that you can have it too or you think everyone else is going ahead leaving you behind?

Reactions that you provide instantaneously come from habit. It will always tell you what kind of energy you hold.

🍃How your mind perceives Gratitude!🍃

We’ve all heard many quotes, advice, speeches on the importance of gratitude.
🙏
I, for one, am a firm believer of gratitude.

It’s not about posting on social media platforms on who or what you are grateful for, and forgetting all about it afterward.

It’s a way of living!🧘🏻‍♀️✨

I realized it a few years back when I started researching on the subconscious mind.🧠

Our subconscious mind cannot differentiate between what is imagined & what is real. All the subconscious knows is the energy with which we act.⚡️⚡️⚡️

Saying ‘Thank You’ alone isn’t enough. You have to know the ‘what’, ‘why’ & ‘how’.

💡What are you grateful for?

💡Why are you grateful for it?

💡How are you being (not showing) grateful?

The simplest way to do that is to feel appreciative of every tiny thing you ALREADY have in your life at this moment. The subconscious mind picks up this energy to attract similar events for you.

💁🏻‍♀️Every time I write a piece for IG, it always starts with an idea💡

➡️The idea usually comes to me during the day-to-day activities, while cooking or in the shower or doing chores.

💯I repeat the idea enough number of times so that I don’t forget it or I jot it down real quick on my phone 📲 if it’s close-by. When I actually sit to write, as I go sentence by sentence, I realize that the content wants to take me elsewhere. So I go with the flow & finish writing✍️📝

It’s been two years since I started my business & I realize that I always end up with a content that I had not planned for initially. And, it is better than the initial idea itself.🤗

If you think about it,💬

The Universe also works the same way🪐

So many times, in the course of our lives, we would’ve thought about our future & how it should look. That’s just the idea we have💡

But, after a while when you look back, you’d have always something you hadn’t initially planned. But it sure has led you to a much better place in life than imagined.

The Best Technique to Break Self-Doubt

When I started working back after my long and much needed break this week, I felt this overwhelming surge of energy within me.☄️

My thoughts circled upon my social media account, my clients, my audience.🔢📈

🚫‘What if my audience disconnected with me during this period?’

🚫‘What if I lost followers?’

🚫‘Am I doing justice to my clients by taking this break?’

They were all, thoughts triggering my self-doubt.🤯🫣

No one in this world is free from self-doubt. The trick is to know how to deal with it once it pops up. 🎈💬

So I paused before I let this self-doubt run into my content & into my business. ❌❌❌

I strongly believe that the energy I put into my content here can be felt by everyone who comes across it.🥀❌🌼🌼🌼

This technique to send self-doubt running may sound dramatic or cliche, but it always works.

I wrote myself a - Love Letter!

I wrote myself a love letter like those in the movies. I listed every small detail of myself that I’m proud of, things I admire, things I’ve overcome.🥰

Every possible way to appreciate myself was mentioned in that letter.🙌🙌🙌

And,

When I finished, I re-read it.

It made me smile. I’m still smiling as I’m writing this.🤗

That was all I needed to crush the doubts.

🏝As many of you here know, that I went off of IG for almost a month.

👇🏻
During this break, at times I kept thinking if I’m being unprofessional by taking time for myself. I’m sure a lot of you have felt the pressure to show up everyday on social media for your businesses. ⏰⌛️

When you’re always running around, adding to-do’s to your schedule, you are refusing your mind the time to process information & feelings it has picked up over a number of days. 🤯🤯🤯

Your mind then, concludes that you have no time to think & it pushes all those information & emotions until you are overloaded & the fuse blows out of proportion. 🌋⚡️

The mind is so much like a machine & yet not even close.🤖

At times, it scares you to pause & think about reality & hence we keep deliberately acting busy. The thought of spending hours without social media or business to-do’s or work assignments seems impossible. 🚫📵💻

In moments like these, the most important thing to do is to catch yourself.

Get a hold of those thoughts that want to you, to be busy. Take small breaks without social media or business or work to-do’s.

Some of the best I’ve tried & those that have worked wonders for me are:🤔👇🏻

📍Take a social media check - an hour, a day break, whatever works best for you.

📍Going for a run - it clears my mind cause the only focus is on running.

📍Sitting with the nature

📍A long, nice, warm bath

📍Dancing

When you do these small & tiny breaks, you give your subconscious the space to process all the information & emotions collected over a period of time, which to the conscious might feel exhausting.

Make up your own list of things you’d love to do during such breaks 👂🏼

💜If you don’t care for yourself, no one else will!💜

⏳We’ve often heard people say ‘Time heals everything’🪄

It’s because….

Every event in your life is a journey you choose.🚶‍♀️

It’s like walking on a beach.

You leave your footprints behind as you walk ahead. If you decide to come back everyday and walk on those same footprints over & over again, you deepen the marks (your past) you leave behind. But you’ll keep reaching the same destination. 🐾🐾🐾

If you don’t like your destination (your present), you have to stop walking on the same footprints.

The next time you find yourself anywhere close to those older footprints, deliberately move away from it. Create new footprints.👣

Happy, joyful events connect with similar events we’ve had in the past to make one big chain in our subconscious & this is true for sad, hurtful events too.
👀👇🏻

Eventually, those older footprints of heartbreak/pain will be washed off by the waves because you’re no longer using it.

🪔Like a dying light, it slowly dims & turns itself off within your subconscious.

That is when people say, ‘Time heals everything’🪄🪄🪄

I’d rather say, ‘Your subconscious heals itself’🧠

The time it takes to heal, is decided by you & only you.🙋🏻‍♀️

Stop walking over the same footprints & you automatically change your destination!🏔🌊🏝

When you meet someone for the first time, you edit yourself to reveal only parts of the whole ‘you’. 👀👤

🪄You edit yourself, when you say ‘Yes’ where you want to say ‘No’

🪄You edit yourself, when you agree to do things you dislike

🪄You edit yourself, when you are threatened by other’s success

🪄You edit when you compare yourselves

🪄You edit when you gossip about others

🪄You edit when you put yourself last

🪄You edit when you compromise

When you overthink to a point where you have to be something or someone else than your authentic self, is when you’re holding yourself back from being your highest potential.

🌒You know how you feel this wave of rush while doing certain things, like you feel when you’re late for something.
😨

You think things like:

😤‘I have to post something on my Instagram feed today at 9 AM’

😤‘I have to cook all 3 meals’

😤‘I must do __ so much work in a day to feel productive’

Even though they all sound like goals you want to achieve, they talk only about the destination.🏝🏔🏜

Instead, when you’re thinking:

✍️‘I want to write something that moves me’

👩‍🍳‘I’m going to explore new recipes today’

☎️‘I have one client call today & I’m making it the best call I’ve ever had’

You are talking about enjoying the process itself, no matter the destination.

When you start doing this, your subconscious mind picks up on more opportunities through the RAS (Reticular Activating System), that attracts similar feelings. ☺️

Once you enjoy the journey, no matter the destination you end up, will only be sweeter.❤️❤️❤️

Just as language is important to communicate with others, it is equally important for how we talk to ourselves.

When we generate WORDS, they reach our mind and translate into THOUGHTS.

THOUGHTS then decide how we FEEL.

How we FEEL always dominates how we ACT/BEHAVE & our behavior creates RESULTS.


This process happens so fast within our minds, that most of you let it dictate your behavior & how you treat yourself.

Watch Your Language!👀🗣

There are words that lift you up & there are those that put you down.🆙⬇️

When in a stressful situation, notice what words consistently occur. When I’m in a stressful situation I always say, ‘Arghh, I’m so pi**ed’ or ‘I’m screwed’.

Even if it is not truly what I feel, I was so used to saying these that my subconscious automatically pulls me down to prove my words right.🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

So now, instead of saying the above, I deliberately think of milder words to use. For ex I’d say, ‘Arghhh, I’m displeased’.
🤣

Can you see the difference? Try saying, ‘I’m displeased’ in the same tone as ‘I’m pi**ed’ & I bet you’ll feel funny.😲💁🏻‍♀️

Because the subconscious now cannot pull you down when you are no longer in the state of being pi**ed. So to prove the word right, the subconscious will consider your feeling as mild & let it pass.💁🏻‍♀️💁🏻‍♀️💁🏻‍♀️

Hence, Watch Your Language!👀🗣

If you aren’t feeling good about a situation, change the words you use & notice the difference. I guarantee it’ll work.

No human has the power to change others. All you can do is influence & inspire others to try for themselves.

In the past, I faced difficulty in showing up. Showing up consistently for my business, on all social media, in my friendships, my relationships & life in general. I never realized it until my mentor asked me this question.👇🏻👀🗣

✨“Where else is it showing up for you?”✨

When I took one resistance of ‘not showing up’ for my business & checked it across other parts of my life, I hit the jackpot.

I found the PATTERN.🎉

There are only 2 possibilities when you consistently show up for your business (or any other parts in life): You either SUCCEED or you FAIL.

Hence, the question “Where else is it showing up for you?”, according to me, is a very powerful one to ask yourself.✅✅✅

🙋🏻‍♀️Pick out one issue (an emotion, a resistance, an internal conflict or a behavior) that is not serving you & ask yourself this question.⁉️

Once you see the PATTERN, it is impossible to UNSEE it.
