Hi! Are you a licensed nail tech who wants to focus on and specialize in natural nails? Then this is the position for you! I’m Kim Blakes and I’ve been doing natural nails for 18 years on a full time basis. Lately I’ve been working 7 days a week and have decided I need HELP 😩😂 this would be a part time position. I would train you FULLY and you would work in my suite when I’m not there. Inbox me for details or to schedule a time to come talk to me 😊

I wanna take a minute to talk about salon policies. If you know me, you know my heart. You know it pains me to charge ANYONE for no calls, no shows or last minute cancellations. This is why I do it on a case by case basis. Many times I tell the person I’ll eat the charge myself because I don’t wanna offend anyone, meanwhile IM OFFENDED.

The reason salons have these is because this is how we are paid. I want you to think about that. If you don’t show up I can’t fill that spot so I am missing out on revenue. If you cancel an hour ahead of time I still can’t fill the spot, it’s the same as not showing. If I am sick and cancel you, you don’t lose any money, I do. That’s the difference. If I cancel appointments it’s because I’m actually sick. Which is a rare occurrence because this is my livelihood for now. Unfortunately “I’m sick” has become a catch all to play on the sympathy of the provider.

Since the first of the year I have had more no shows and last minute cancellations than I can count. Yes, on my site you have to acknowledge the policy and leave a card on file. However when I go to charge the card it’s declined for whatever reason. This is also intentional. I will no longer tip toe around the inconsiderate or self absorbed. You will be sent an invoice and if the invoice is not settled you cannot book again. Do not book with me if this doesn’t work for you, I’m not your service provider.. I’m perfectly fine with that. I will not accept anymore flimsy excuses for inconsideration. Thanks for coming to my Tedtalk.

Welp.. 2023 is a WRAP!! These numbers rival my Illinois numbers! 880 Shellac Manicures and 425 Pedicures! Who said women in Dallas don’t like manicures?! 😩😂 thank yall.. I appreciate each and every one of you. I’m honored and humbled to serve you. I’ve made some great friends and have learned so much.

What systems do you have in place to ensure consistency? As a professional you set the standard. No matter the field.. YOU set the standard. When the client sits in front of you it should feel like you know what you’re doing. Create good habits and carry them throughout your career.

As the holidays near please be mindful of your appointments booked. When you cancel at the last minute I can’t fill that spot and have just lost revenue. I’m here to do your service, not take your money. I’ve lost a lot of revenue due to no shows and last minute cancellations in the past year. This is unfair to me and those on the waitlist who could’ve taken your spot. Be kind. Know what you have going on and please give me 24 hours notice.

Had a new client once that booked a pedicure and added French finish for the extra time. She added the extra 15 minutes because she wanted me to really scrub her heals. I told her even if these were the worse heels in the world I would not throw my back out scrubbing them 😂

See you can’t get a pedicure once or twice a year and expect the nail tech to do all the work and to take up the slack for daily neglect. You walk on your own feet DAILY! And you don’t care enough to even hydrate them but now you want the tech to take an additional 30 minutes doing what you won’t even do for yourself. I refuse. Pedicuring is not magic and it doesn’t replace daily maintenance.

**Also calluses should be removed gradually. This is why the credo blade is illegal in most states, it’s too aggressive and will cause irritation and possible blood. You remove all that callus at one time and the body will work overtime making more to “help” you and your heels will be worse than when you started.

Rome wasn’t built in a day. REFUSE unrealistic expectations. These quick fixes don’t last. If you want good feet, invest in them. Take care of them between services. They are YOUR feet. The only ones you have.

Now.. I understand preference but let me tell you why this is bad. I have been a licensed nail tech since 2006.. and I’ve seen it all. When your toenails go past the free edge (where your natural toe stops) the pressure from shoes and socks cause the nail plate (hard part) to lift from the nail bed (flesh under the toenail) look at the big toe.. do you see where it’s starting to blur? That’s what’s happening.. the toenail is lifting away. The body then makes more keratin to make up for the gap, that’s where thickened toenails come from. Now.. let’s say you get some bad bacteria and moisture under these long nails.. now you have fungus. Fungus eats away at the toenail from the free edge down and it spreads from toenail to toenail and overtime will discolor and smell. The toenails need to be kept SHORT with a flat edge and rounded corners. I cringe when someone tells me to leave their toenails long.

This is CND Shellac on natural nails. We did an IBX treatment for longevity and strength. No hard gel, acrylics or tips were applied.
