Their flight from nesting tree into the bush last less than couple of secs , which makes this video shorter. Of all days I picked this day to document these Red headed woodpecker along with its little ones. While I spent few hours with them to take pictures and videos, I came to know this entire tree which was acting as they house for past 3 years was blown down by a strong storm same night. We all hope the little one fledged at right time to see the future. This might have been the last of the documentation of their house along with their nexgen. For all the birders this was a great spot that will be dearly missed. This tall standing dead tree was in middle of huge open area which was well accessed through a beautiful trail. The trail position gave a beautiful eye level into the nesting hole and kept a very safe distance from the inhabitants. When I visited this spot last week the sense of emptiness was disheartening. I have a mixed emotion in sharing these videos. I normally do not record videos and something prompted me to do so this time. As promised here is my first attempt of video recording from the great migration of Geese flocks (Snow Geese & Ross Geese) to Texas at Hagerman National Wildlife Reserve, Sherman. HD Link: https://youtu.be/nDxZBXk8cE8 More about Hagerman NWR and Geese Migration - Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge, a haven for migratory birds and other wildlife, lies on the Big Mineral Arm of Lake Texoma, on the Red River between Oklahoma and Texas. The refuge is made up of water, marsh, and upland habitat and visitors can hike, observe wildlife, hunt, fish at various times throughout the year. The main focus at Hagerman NWR is providing a winter home for thousands of waterfowl. Foremost among the waterfowl are Canada geese. During fall, winter, and spring, numbers can reach 7,500 or more. Other geese include white-fronted and snow geese, with a scattering of the smaller Ross' geese.
