Hi all , I just wanted to let everyone know that I have closed my salon Bombshelly Beauty at 432 Broad Street.

This was a really hard decision to make and I just wanted to explain why.
I moved to Gadsden last year from Ohio so I was starting from the ground up and I didn’t know about all of gadsdens regulations. I got approved by the health board, cosmetology board, state, but I didn’t know i needed to have the city as well.
I had run my salon for a few months when I decided to hold an event for July first friday. I had everything set up and I paid to advertise my event. So after word got around about my tiny tattoos I was offering at the event, someone contacted the city of gadsden, who then shut me down the day before the event. Because of a “no tattooing” on broad street Ordinance. I had no idea about this ordinance, and that the ordinance also included permanent makeup.

After this happened me & the owner of natural illusions went to city hall to campaign lifting the ordinance. We also tried to ask them to atleast allow permanent makeup like brows, eyeliner, etc.

We waited months and heard nothing from the city and I continued to run my salon without half of my services. The reason I ventured out on my own was because I wanted to offer my pmu services. I took a chance and went all in and spent thousands on supplies, licenses, equipment etc. My training for permanent alone was $4k.

To this day I still haven’t heard back from the city of Gadsden. So I decided to close my salon. I didn’t know what to do and I was really upset about the whole situation.
I may try again down the road in a different location or I may try working at a local tattoo shop to offer my pmu services… i’m not sure just yet. This was a hard thing to accept and I’ve felt super powerless in the whole situation. I had to change my whole business structure and turn a lot of clients away.

I just wanna thank everyone who helped me after the city shut me down & everyone at natural illusions who recommended me to their clients and friends. And I want to thank the clients I did have. I enjoyed meeting you all and hope to service you again some day.
