IMPORTANT – PLEASE SHARE This video contains clips from last week’s (January 9th) Alachua County, FL Commission meeting. Below is a letter that Rabbi Berl Goldman wrote to the Honorable Commissioner Ken Cornell prior to the meeting, which was distributed to all the Commissioners. It is important that our voices be expressed and heard in support of Israel, honesty and truth. At the meeting the resolution was not passed, but deferred to a later date. I urge all citizens of Alachua County to contact our Commissioners regarding this pending biased resolution against Israel. Attention: Honorable Commissioner Ken Cornell Ref: Proposed Ceasefire Resolution January 7, 2024 Dear Commissioner Cornell, I am writing to you today with my concerns regarding the prospective ceasefire resolution, on the agenda for Tuesday’s Alachua County Commission Meeting. The ceasefire resolution does not represent the views of the vast majority of the Jewish community, and we cannot support it for two reasons. Firstly, and this should be obvious, but conflicts in a country a world away, no matter how close to our hearts, is far beyond the purview and purpose of the commission. This resolution is not about resolving the conflict, but about making a political statement and blatant anti-Israel bias. It seems inappropriate, especially as war is raging, for such a resolution to be passed. Secondly, and more importantly, there are two key issues with passing this resolution. Unquestionably, every moral person hopes and prays for a ceasefire, and peace in Israel, and around the world. Yet, we every moral person must also recognize that Hamas is a terror organization, recognized as such by the United States Government, that calls for the murder of every Jew in the world, including those here in Florida. To call for a ceasefire without explicitly calling for the unconditional release of each and every hostage kidnapped by the Hamas terrorists, from the one year old baby to the very e

250+ students and community gathered tonight at Chabad UF to listen to Yarin Levin, a 24-year-old IDF reserve soldier, and survivor of the Nova Festival, share his story of courage and perseverance. Yarin gave a firsthand account of leading 700 concert goers away from the terrorist monsters to safety. His emotional and painful story of resilience, determination and strength in the face of the devastating October 7th attack, was heart wrenching and transformative. He spoke about his family, his education, service in IDF and details and images of that fateful day, followed by questions from the audience. The event also included Psalms, Torah and Charity, with prayers for the hostages and IDF soldiers, bravely fighting for the safety and security of Israel and the Jewish people. THANK YOU UF Chabad Student Group, UF Center for Jewish Studies and UF SSI for your help and co-sponsorship. To help support Jewish Life and Learning at UF, SFC and Community please donate at: www.JewishGator.com/Donate We need and appreciate your partnership.

Today, there were many student parties around Gainesville for July 4th. Chabad UF went to five of those parties to speak with the Jewish students and offer the boys to put on Tefillin. We met many students and over 50 chose to stop in the middle of the party and put on Tefillin and say a prayer. The Pintele Yid - Jewish Spark is strong! All it needs is a small flame to ignite it. Thank you to all alumni, parents, friends and community for your unconditional partnership and support for Jewish life and learning at the US, SFC and Community. It’s Great to Be A Jewish Gator!
