I’m excited to announce a new class at a new location! (Don’t worry, yogis, classes will return at The Ark once we’re past this heat 🥵)
This class will focus on things important for athletes (but no, you don’t need to identify as an athlete to join. Or even be a member of the ! All women are welcome!)
Class will focus on three main things. First, yoga is known for creating flexibility. However, as athletes, we want mobility – flexibility with strength and stability, so while we’ll be exploring traditional yoga poses, we’ll also be adding in activation to make sure we have functional range of motion, not just flexibility.
Second, class will follow a slow-paced vinyasa flow format, which is excellent for active recovery (way better for your recovery than just sitting on your couch all day)!
Third, classes will each have a different mindfulness and/or breathwork component, with an emphasis on skills that will help you perform better in the gym.
Classes will be designed for everyone and every body, regardless of your skill level. And no, you don’t need to be flexible to start doing yoga!
$110 for the series
DM me with your email address and we can get you set up in the Lift Lab system and signed up for class!
Last month of classes (for now!) at ! If you’ve got classes left on your class pass, now is the time to use’em! If you’ve never joined and have been wanting to… it’s not too late! Don’t miss out!
Updates on Yoga at !
We won’t have class tomorrow. Happy Easter to those who celebrate it!
And then we’ve got 7 more classes until I take off for mountain adventures. I’d love to see you before I go!
With closing at the end of the week, tonight will be my last evening teaching there 😔
From the first moment that I stepped onto those glorious cork floors (I’m not sure how many years ago!), I was absolutely in love with the space. And then the teachers and classes took that love up another few notches.
About two years ago, as I pulled into the parking lot again for the first time after many months of practicing yoga online (thanks, Covid), I started crying tears of joy at finally being back at the studio. I had missed the space and its people so much.
Tonight, I’m pretty certain there will be a different kind of tears flowing after class. I am really going to miss this studio, and all of its amazing students and teachers.
If you’re willing to brave my tears, I’d love to see you tonight at 6pm. All are welcome.
I have only three more classes at left (including this evening!) before the studio closes 😭😭 Come join me for a class in their beautiful space!
And we’ve got 3 months left of classes at before we’ll take a break for summer adventures. ⛰🌅🌄 We’re in a rare gap between polar plunge yoga and hot yoga, so if the weather has been holding you back from coming, it’s perfect right now!

New Blog Post! An update on my experiments trying to manage intermittent insulin resistance and blood sugar crashes. Spoiler- there’s been major progress!
https://thepcosprofessor.com/myownexperiences
You might also notice that there’s a new website! The formal launch of that and my new Instagram account (.pcos.professor) is coming soon! But feel free to give that new account a follow if you’re so inclined… 🙏🏼
Lastly, there’s been a bit of uproar about promoting diet culture, and this post is in the same vein as her content. While I’m all for banishing unhelpful elements of diet culture, for many people with health challenges, diet can play a huge role in managing those challenges.
Every person is unique. Tracking and minimizing carb consumption or blood sugar spikes might be very unhealthy for someone with a history of eating disorders. And it’s completely unnecessary for someone with great blood sugar control. But for someone with a genetic predisposition to insulin resistance (and thus also diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, and more), putting some boundaries on carbohydrate consumption is paramount for me to live a long and healthy life. It has also markedly reduced my last remaining pesky PCOS symptoms (my next blog post!).
I hope that we can respect each other’s unique needs so that we can all thrive.
Yoga for Athletes at returns this Sunday at 9am!
Come on out and join us! All experience levels and flexibility levels (or complete lack thereof) welcome!
Classes are $10 each or get a 5-class pass for $40 ($35 for students!).

I hope to see you soon!
My first nutrition therapy client has loads of stress. She could really benefit from adding some meditation into her life, but doesn’t have time for anything new (maybe this feels familiar to you…).
She parks on the edge of campus and has about a 5 minute walk to her office each morning and back again in the evening.
To help her sneak a little stress relief into her busy day, I’ve created a short guided walking meditation.
Perhaps you’ve got a short walk that could use some mindfulness as well? If so, you can find this video in the link in my bio. Enjoy!
New Online Class!
If you’ve taken classes with me in person, you know I LOVE using props! And a little bit of wall space makes an awesome prop! Grab your mat, clear a little wall space, and give this class a try!

One last video… on why I’m including mindfulness and yoga in my New Year, New Habits program.
The tldr version:
Mindfulness can help you break your bad habits! Plus help with a ton of health issues!
And restorative yoga helps with digestive issues, fertility struggles, and more!

Please reach out if you have questions!

Zoey, as always, is there to demo various resting poses for you.
Manny made a rare appearance to beg for attention and demo his favorite pose, downward facing dog.
And if you’re itching for a holiday playlist, you can find one in the video description.
Enjoy! And happy holidays!
Last week, I listened to the podcast on the use of the ketogenic diet to address certain mental health challenges.
Like many women of reproductive age, my own experiences with keto were not particularly positive, but the podcast made me reflect on my own experiences with depression and the role that diet played in overcoming it.
I’m not sure that I’ve shared this story with anyone in its entirety yet, but after listening to the podcast, I felt compelled to write a blog post on it in the hopes that it might be helpful for others. If you’re so inclined to read it:

And if you’re ever in the Davis, CA area and come across a therapist named Agnes, please tell her I said thank you for changing my life.
Grateful…
for these beautiful humans,
for this space,
for the practice of yoga.
Three years ago today, a cat joined me for some yoga on my deck in Sweden. Her downward facing cat was legit!
While my classes aren’t normally cat-friendly, I do try to make them friendly for all humans. Come on out and join me tomorrow at 5:45pm at ?
Some folks have been asking about the return of outdoor yoga, so it’s time to break the bad news. Outdoor Yoga, at least on a regular weekly basis, will not continue.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been able to focus solely on what kind of class I want to create and what I want to teach, without having to watch the radar in our ever changing climate to make sure my class won’t be poured on, struck by lightning, or frozen. With vaccination rates climbing and infections slowing, I’ve decided I want to return fully to indoor classes.
For now, I am teaching in studio and online through on Wednesdays at 5:45pm. I’m also in conversations with the owner of a local functional fitness gym about adding a class at their facility which will be open to their members and non-members. Stayed tuned for more info on this class!
Thank you to all who showed up week after week to brave the Florida elements with me 🙏🏼 It has been a pleasure to practice with you.
When you are ready, I hope to see you for a class again soon! Until then... be well.
When I started my blog last month, I had intended to post monthly. This second post is two days late, and I think that is just perfect given its topic! 🙃
If you're also a recovering perfectionist or aspire to be one, this post might just be for you.
The Practice of Self-Compassion: How to Become a Recovering Perfectionist — Down Dog Yoga If you received a 98 on a math exam, how would you react? Would you be pleased because you had done so well? Or upset that you missed two points? One of my earliest memories of my elementary school days involved me bringing home a math exam with 50 addition and subtraction problems. I had missed one
I am VERY excited to announce that I will be teaching regularly on Wednesdays at 5:45pm at ! Class will follow an all levels format and will be similar to the classes we’ve had online and outdoors over the past year. You can join through zoom or in their gorgeous studio. Mat spots are marked off in the studio to make sure you are not too close to anyone else. 😷
Classes will still continue on Sundays at 5pm at Roper Park for April and then we’ll reassess our outdoor plan for the summer in Rainesville ⛈☔️
I hope to see you for a class soon!
Zoey is a firm believer that everyone needs yoga in their life! For the month of April, outdoor yoga classes will be 5-6pm at Roper Park. We’ll even have class tomorrow on Easter. Come and join us! (Excessive use of yoga blankets is optional 😋)
I’ve been loving teaching under the big oak trees at our new class location! And I think my back row students appreciate my new “voice amplifier” to help with the challenging outdoor acoustics. Come on out and join us this Sunday at 4pm at Roper Park for some sunshine and movement under the trees! Signup link in bio.
I've been kicking around the idea of adding a blog to my website for a while now. The one-year anniversary of moving classes online seemed like a momentous enough occasion to warrant trying something new (that's kind of been the theme of this past year, hasn't it??). I envision using this space to share glimpses of my yoga, mindfulness, and wellness practices in the hopes that they resonate with and/or help some of you. A snippet from the first post is included below.
I also want to thank all of you for keeping my classes alive during the past year. I have so much gratitude for you, and I can't wait to see you in class soon!

"One year ago today, I offered Virtual Yoga for the first time. Zero people joined for that first class. But I am stubborn, and I was certain that yoga would be helpful during the pandemic, so I just pressed on. In my second week of offering Virtual Yoga, 6 people joined. A year later, after a mix of virtual and outdoor yoga, classes consistently hit capacity each week. Zoom Analytics tells me that the recorded classes have 1,094 views.
People did, indeed, need yoga
How did I know that people would need yoga?
Because in times of distress (after pretty much any breakup, big or small; when my dog was dying of lymphoma; during the entire year that my tenure packet was under review; and of course, in this pandemic), I have always turned to my mat." [continued on the blog]
