Graduate Research Professor Emeritus Nicholas Bodor, Ph.D., and his company Bodor Laboratories Inc., recently secured FDA approval for a new topical gel, SofdraTM. The therapy is a first for the treatment of primary axillary hyperhidrosis.

As fentanyl-driven opioid overdose deaths exceed 80,000 annually in the U.S., the race is on to identify better treatment options. Scientists in the UF College of Pharmacy have identified a novel compound that pairs with the drug Narcan to reverse the lethal effects of opioid overdose.

29 rising high school seniors traveled to the UF College of Pharmacy Gainesville campus from across Florida this week to attend the Gator Pharmacy Exploration Camp. The University of Florida College of Medicine - Jacksonville annually recognizes outstanding women in medicine and science, and this year presented Dr. Jessica Huston with an Early Career Award.
The award recognizes an early-career, female faculty member in the health colleges at UF Health Jacksonville who has demonstrated outstanding potential for significant career accomplishments. Dr. Huston chairs the UF College of Pharmacy's Admissions Committee and is president of the Duval County Pharmacy Association. The selection committee noted her record of publications and commitment to mentoring pharmacy students in presenting the award.

UF Health has been selected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to lead a program expanding access to hypertension care for Jacksonville’s medically underserved communities. A collaboration among UF Health Total Care Clinic – Jacksonville, the UF College of Pharmacy and Panama Pharmacy, the Hypertension Pharmacists’ Program will debut this summer. Read more here:

A team of UF researchers led by College of Pharmacy assistant professor Md Mahmudul Hasan, Ph.D., have developed a machine learning system to identify patients at high risk of discontinuing buprenorphine treatment for opioid use disorder. Looking back at this 2001 photo of University of Florida College of Pharmacy alumnus Christopher Bare providing care during an artillery exercise in Wyoming, we're reminded of the perseverance and readiness of our military alumni. This Military Appreciation Month, we honor all who exemplified courage and sacrifice to our country.
Each year the University of Florida recognizes its most productive and promising faculty members with the UF Research Foundation Professorship award, and we are excited to share that Dr. Larisa Cavallari from the UF College of Pharmacy has been selected this year.
Dr. Cavallari joined the college in 2014 and focuses her research on the discovery and clinical translation of genetic variants related to drug response. She has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and secured over $10 million in research funding during her career. She is also among a core group of faculty who have elevated UF to one of the preeminent institutions in the field of precision medicine. Congratulations Dr. Cavallari! 👏
