Our access is open for walking traffic only. We ask that you are off the ice before dark. On shore overnight camping only at this time . Thank you.

Mother nature is playing hard ball and not giving us the cold weather we need to get going on lake of the woods.
With that said I am offering guide trips in the following areas until we can get out on lake of the woods. Winnie, Little Winnie, Upper Red lake, Rainy River and black duck area.
Things are changing from day to day so options are based on ice conditions.
If looking to get out its best to shoot me a message and go over options for the day or days you are looking to get out.

First guide trip of the ice season was a good one.
Biggest walleye was 26" with lots of action this morning.

I have Sunday and a few days next week available for red lake. If you're not looking for a guide or just don't want to make the drive to red lake check out Castles Resort on Mille Lacs.
They are open to people walking out.
The Walleye and perch bite have both been good last couple days.
If going out without a guide make sure to have your spud bar to check ice.

Here is what everyone has been waiting for. Ice Update: We staked a road out 1/2 mile to 10 1/2 feet of water. There is 6 to 7 inches of ice. The pockets of open water just froze over and are 2 inches thick. The guys have staked off those areas but it's early ice and as we know there could be more. With that being said, we will open the lodge and our access Friday December 1st at 7am, for walking traffic only. No one is allowed out before daylight or after dark. We have fatheads and rainbows and our kitchen will be open starting at 7am Friday for grab and go burritos. We still have some houses and campsites available. We also had a cancelation and the bunkhouse is available.

If you are looking to get on some early ice in the north central part of the state. Now is the time!
I have November 30th, December 1,2,3rd avaliable for some panfish with some possible walleyes mixed in.
Then I'll possible be on red for a few days to a week after that before heading to lake of the woods for the rest of the hard water season.

Had Eric and his wife Emma in my boat today for a Walleye trip on Mille Lacs.
Other then being brezzy and switching sides of the lake to make it more comfortable for fishing it was a perfect day!
We started out right away on fish and continued to catch fish all day!
They even got to bring their limit of Mille lacs lake keepers home.
The bite on Mille lacs continues to be really good and only going to get better! The small mouth bite is also going to start heating up.
I have a handful of dates left for this year's open water season.
Now's the time to get one of those open dates before they are gone!

Had the day off so decided to play with some Walleyes on Mille Lacs. Boat 58 Walleyes.
Took a bit to find the active fish but once I did it stayed pretty busy. Most were from 20 to 24" with a few smaller and only 1 over 24". Tons of perch around too!
I only have a handful of dates left for August and a handful for September.

Early ice will be here before you know it. I'll be offering guide trips on Red lake again this year. From Nov 26th until around December 5th. These are discounted trips. If you've never done a red lake trip in the winter this is a great opportunity to give it a try. Dates fill fast so nows a great time to reserve a date.

Cody thought he hooked into a big bass at first. Just turned out to be this guy. Still a fun fight.
Still have a few dates open for August.

I have a last minute opening for Monday the 17th and 18th of July due to a group rescheduling (discounted rate). I also have the 28-30th of July open. Mille Lacs or the Brainard lakes area.

I did my first Vets fishing event ever with Vets R Us, Inc. . Val Rasmussen said us boat captain's will probably take more from spending time on the water with the vets then the vets. In my head I thought that's silly!
How could it possibly impact me more then them?
Well she was right!
I'm shocked at the impact it had on me, and can't wait until their next one so I can do it again!
With that being said I think I'm going to give up 1 Sunday a month during the open water to offer up a free guided trip for a vet or a vet and their family.
I figure it's the least I can do for all they have given up and done for us.
So please if you are a vet or know someone that's a vet and this is something that might interest you please get ahold of me!

The bite continues to be pretty good most days. Have a few dates still available for July and August. Let me know if you'd like to get out on the water.

The Bass and Walleye bite has been pretty good around the Mille Lacs and Brainard lakes area.
I have a last minute opening for the 6th and 7th of July. Also have the 11th, 14th,15th and 16th available. And a could days at the end of the month and several days in August.

Had the day free so called a buddy to come fishing. We started out chasing smallies. Then we started seeing Crappies on livescope. So we switched gears and went after slabs.
I have to give it up to FIN GEAR there livescope pole is such a breeze to use and strong! If you're looking for a livescope pole I highly recommend them!

Had a 4 hour trip this morning with Carson. He's just getting into fishing and wanted to learn a few things.
So we worked how to tie some knots, how to cast, and how to work a few different baits. Once we got that down we went after some smallies. His biggest was just shy of 19"!

The smiles say it all!
