Did you know that upper front teeth that stick out much farther than the lower teeth are at a greater risk of fracture in even minor facial injuries? Whenever I see teeth like this, I recommend treatment to bring the upper front teeth into a better position as soon as the four front teeth are fully in. Once all of the permanent teeth come in, this patient will undergo comprehensive treatment to fully align the teeth and finalize the bite.

Take a close look. This patient could only touch her second molars together. This means that all of her bite forces were on 4 teeth. Risk of enamel wear on the biting surfaces or actual fracture of these teeth is only the half of it. Not being able to effectively bite/chew food can lead to serious digestive issues. With very strategic bracket placement and 2 months of rubber band wear, this patient now has ideal occlusion; and she’s only been in braces doe 7 months. She is only halfway done with treatment, as my goal is always stability of the bite, but she’s made a beautiful transformation already. #transformationtuesday #bestorthodontist #beforeandafter #garwoodnj

It’s Labor Day which means Back To School is coming. To celebrate, we’re giving away backpacks loaded with schools supplies and a hydro flask.
