Hello. I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been taking a break from Facebook.

My posts are mostly about my spiritual life as I experience it through my Order of Secular Franciscans fraternity.

I post prayers that come to me as I try to cooperate with God's Holy Work of my salvation. I share in case someone reading them is having a tough time thinking of what to say. And in hopes those stopping by might want to pray for me or ask for prayer themselves.
Feel free to share.

St. Maximilian Kolbe was born as Raymund Kolbe on January 8, 1894, in the Kingdom of Poland, part of the Russian Empire. He was a Polish Conventual Franciscan friar and a martyr in the German death Camp of Auschwitz during World War II.

St. Maximilian Kolbe was very active in promoting the Immaculate Virgin Mary and is known as the Apostle of Consecration to Mary. Much of his life was strongly influenced by a vision he had of the Virgin Mary when he was 12.

"That night I asked the Mother of God what was to become of me. Then she came to me holding two crowns, one white, the other red. She asked me if I was willing to accept either of these crowns. The white one meant that I should persevere in purity, and the red that I should become a martyr. I said that I would accept them both."

One year after his vision, Kolbe and his elder brother, Francis joined the Conventual Franciscans. In 1910, Kolbe was given the religious name Maximilian, after being allowed to enter the novitiate, and in 1911, he professed his first vows.

At the age of 21, Kolbe earned a doctorate in philosophy from the Pontifical Gregorian University. He would also earn a doctorate in theology by the time he was 28.

St. Maximilian Kolbe organized the Militia Immaculata (Army of the Immaculate One) after witnessing demonstrations against Pope St. Pius X and Benedict XV. His goal was to work for the conversion of sinners and enemies of the Church, specifically, the Freemasons and he would so with the intercession of Mary.

In 1918, he was ordained a priest and continued his work of promoting Mary throughout Poland. Over the next several years, Kolbe took on publishing. He founded a monthly periodical titled, "Rycerz Niepokalanej" (Knight of the Immaculate). He also operated a religious publishing press and founded a new Conventual Franciscan monastery at Niepokalanow, which became a major religious publishing center.

Kolbe also founded monasteries in both Japan and India. To this day, the monastery in Japan remains prominent in the Roman Catholic Church in Japan.

In 1936, Kolbe's poor health forced him to return home to Poland, and once the WWII invasion by Germany began, he became one of the only brothers to remain in the monastery. He opened up a temporary hospital to aid those in need. When his town was captured, Kolbe was sent to prison but released three months later.

Kolbe refused to sign a document that would recognize him as a German citizen with his German ancestry and continued to work in his monastery, providing shelter for refugees - including hiding 2,000 Jews from German persecution. After receiving permission to continue his religious publishing, Kolbe's monastery acted as a publishing house again and issued many anti-Nazi German publications.

On February 17, 1941, the monastery was shut down; Kolbe was arrested by the German Gestapo and taken to the Pawiak prison. Three months later, he was transferred to Auschwitz.

Never abandoning his priesthood, Kolbe was the victim to severe violence and harassment. Toward the end of his second month in Auschwitz, men were chosen to face death by starvation to warn against escapes. Kolbe was not chosen but volunteered to take the place of a man with a family.

It is said during the last days of his life Kolbe led prayers to Our Lady with the prisoners and remained calm. He was the last of the group to remain alive, after two weeks of dehydration and starvation. The guards gave him a lethal injection of carbolic acid. The stories tell that he raised his left arm and calmly awaited death.

St. Maximilian Kolbe died on August 14 and his remains were cremated on August 15, the same day as the Assumption of Mary feast day.

Recognized as the Servant of God, Kolbe was beatified as a "Confessor of the Faith" on October 17, 1971 by Pope Paul VI and canonized by Pope John Paul II on October 10, 1982. Pope John Paul II declared Kolbe not a confessor, but a martyr.

Kolbe's is often depicted in a prison uniform and with a needle being injected into an arm. He is the patron saint of drug addicts, prisoners, families, and the pro-life movement and his feast day is celebrated on August 14.

As well as having ADHD, I also have depression and anxiety. I don't always trust my thinking. Hense, this prayer. I hope that, if needed, you may find this helpful. 🌹

Oh Sorrowful and Immaculate Mother, I plead the Blood of Jesus over my mind and it's chemistry, my thinking, my reasoning, my understanding, memory, faith and my will. Please, pray the veil of darkness which deceives me and allows me to deceive myself be fully lifted.

Because I am weak I need your help. Grant me the Graces I need to do what's right. I love you. Help me to love you more and more. Thank you, Mother.
Amen.

For some strange reason this post just disappeared. So, trying it again. Hope my prayer life is of some use to others. 😊

If I have one of my migraines do I thank God for providing me such a lovely gift of suffering as a means of reparation for my constant offenses, sharing a small bit of what He experienced by His Crown while carrying His Cross for me, or do I reach for the Sumatriptan prescribed me by my dutiful physician?

When my sciatica flares up tonight do I gaze in awe at my precious Savior who loves me so much He sent me a means to meet Him face to face one day, or do I reach for the Vicodin that "takes the edge off?"?

At the end of the day when the familiar sensation of needles and knives of nueropathy hits my hands and feet does my comfort come from offering it up, hoping that some poor soul on their way to Purgatory may have just made a U-turn heading instead to Heaven, or by grabbing the Lyrica next to the recliner I sleep in to ease the pains of Fibromyalgia?

When my hands, arms, toes, legs, back and stomach muscles start to seize up in horrific cramps because I wasn't able to drink the water necessary to replace my fluids lost in sweat while performing my duties, or do I take the opportunity to pray my Rosary as I pace back and forth thankful to my Sorrowful and Immaculate Mother for reminding me to use my time for prayer, or out of habit open the bottle Flexeril to instantly relax my muscles?

When my co-worker says that one thing that sets me off do I make certain to let her know about it altering her day in the process, or do I smile quietly and thank God for providing me another opportunity to practice patience and humility?

Am I even aware of all the powerful miracles happening in my life every single hour of the day? The many little gifts Jesus sends to stregthen, and prepare me to travel the narrow path, the one most of us find too difficult? When they arrive am I most likely to make sure I share my suffering with everyone who'll listen, spreading the habit of ungrateful and selfish complaining? Or, do I accept in gratitude and above all cheerfulness because of the fullness of love I have for the giver?

Lord, help me to change my thinking. Instead of following what appears to be normal for the world, show me the reality of Your intentions. Reveal the Truth to me so that I may cooperate with all You are trying to do for me. Help me recognize the efforts Our Mother makes to guide us in the direction that leads me to her Son. Grant me the grace of understanding when my guardian angel is trying to, "Light and guard, to rule and guide," me. Remind me that conforming to the world is exactly what You warned us about when You advised us to, "Be in the world, but not of the world,".
Please accept my apology for all the times I have been ungrateful and lost the gifts You have sent. And, thank You, Lord, for all of them.
Amen

I made these rosaries for my CCD class for the May Crowning a few years ago. I made 16 of them. Each one was different. They seemed to really like the colors. I sent the kids to our priest before mass to have them blessed. They are inexpensive and easy to make. Just sharing an idea. 💝

Is it a lie to embellish? Yes, I AM referring to the age old "Fish Tale." I have always thought those stories are in essence true. Because, the spirit of the story tells the emotional truth of how losing the fish feels to the story teller. It is the truth of those emotions that the story teller is trying to convey.

Did Jesus tell stories like this? Were the parables examples of this phenominae?
I have embellished, I must confess. Was my fever 104° or did I feel so crappy that 102° just couldn't convey the same level of crappiness?
I can't really say for sure. I just asked the question in prayer. I am waiting for Guardian Angel, or our Mother, or our Lord, Jesus, to answer. When I know for sure, I will either breath a sigh of relief, or Repent. Then, I will have to brave the tackling of putting an end to the habit. I almost typed, "Nipping it in the bud," but this is way beyond bud stage. This will be a hard habit to break. I am hoping to hear that embellishment is a perfectly acceptable story telling style. Yep, hoping. 😁

This past Feast of the Immaculate Conception I could not find an Immaculate Conception Rosary to pray. There were caplets to be sure, but no rosaries specific for that intention. So, I found a website (notated) that had some lovely prayers I chose to create one. I know it is a little late to be posting this, but maybe you will find it useful. 🤗😘

Rosary of the Immaculate Conception

The Rosary begins as usual.

On the Crusifix begin the Apostles Creed.

On the first bead pray an Our Father.

Pray 3 Hail Mary's on the next 3 beads.

On the next bead pray,

“Everything in Mary leads us toward her Son, our only Savior, by whose foreseen merits she was preserved immaculate and full of grace; everything in Mary lifts up our hearts to the praise of the Holy Trinity.”

"Glory to The Father...",
Fatima Prayer, "Oh my Jesus..."

State the first intention for reparation.

(The 5 decades are for offering reparation for the 5 types of offenses and blasphemies against the Immaculate Heart of Our Mother, namely)

1. In reparation for blasphemies against her Immaculate Conception.

2. In reparation for blasphemies against her perpetual virginity.

3. In reparation for blasphemies against the divine and spiritual maternity of Mary.

4. In reparation for blasphemies involving the rejection and dishonoring of her images.

5. In reparation for the neglect of implanting in the hearts of children a knowledge and love of our Immaculate Mother.

On the large beads pray the Our Father.

On each of the next 10 beads pray a "Hail Mary".

Conclude each decade with,

•"Glory to The Father...",
•Fatima Prayer, "Oh my Jesus..."
•“I will never abandon you, my child. My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God.”

After the last decade pray,

"Hail Holy Queen"

Conclude with,

*"Oh Mother most pure, guide me in dangers, enlighten me in doubts, strengthen me in temptation, and help me to bear the crosses of life in union with your Son, so that one day, with you, I might share His Glory."

Amen

FYI
Our Lady then spoke to
Sr. Lucia:

“My daughter, look at my heart surrounded with thorns with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. You, at least, try to console me, and announce that I promise to assist at the hour of death, with all the graces necessary for salvation, all those who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, go to Confession and receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the Rosary, and keep me company for a quarter of an hour while meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary, with the intention of making reparation to me.”

Portions of these prayers are borrowed from: Rosary Center and Confraternity

I heard a talk today about God's unfathomable Mercy. The priest said that to go to confession, you have to realize you are a sinner, you have to drop your stone. Meaning the one you were going to throw having not understood your self to be sinful. It occurred to me that, "You can't go to confession carrying stones," means more than that. It also means that you can't hold onto un-forgiveness which was the reason stone throwing occurred.
We know this, but sometimes Our loving God sends little friendly reminders.
Sacred and Eucharistic Heart of Our Lord, help me to forgive those hurts I have forgotten that have gone un- forgiven. I don't want any un-forgiveness that could keep me from you. 🤗
