Genesee Valley Children's Choir GVCC Fans

Choir is going to be at Central Presbyterian church tomorrow, not SUNY Geneseo.

GVCC is starting back up September 8th. Our schedule will go back to Sundays. First rehearsal is tomorrow at Central Presbyterial Church not at SUNY Geneseo. We are also interviewing new music directors this semester. Please reach out to me, Amy Cochrane if you are interested in singing with us. Spread the word. The Finger Lakes Choral Festival presents "St Francis in the Americas: A Caribbean Mass," by Glenn McClure and "Misa Criolla," by Ariel Ramirez, Sunday, July 28, 2024, 4:00 P.M. at the Hochstein Performance Hall, 50 Plymouth Avenue North, Rochester, NY, 14614. The performance is free of charge. Donations of food, clothing, and personal care items accepted at the door benefit Action for a Better Community.
Ramirez's folk mass, sung in Spanish, features Andean rhythms and traditional instruments. The Panloco Steel Drum Ensemble accompanies McClure's Caribbean Mass. Joining the chorus as featured soloists are Pablo Willey-Bustos, tenor, and Alicia Barry, mezzo soprano. Ines Draskovic accompanies on piano, and festival Artistic Director Eric Townell conducts.
The Finger Lakes Choral Festival, founded 2003, welcomes all singers with choral experience to join in performing great music each summer. Find details at our website: www.fingerlakeschoral.org.

The choir starts back up this Saturday! GVCC Sat. rehearsals:

Jan. 6, 20, 27; Feb. 3,10; March 9,16,23; April: 13,20,27; May 4,11,18 , Maybe June 1 weekend for final concert with . (Isabel commencement on May 19, otherwise that would be a better date)
Retreat for all choir with possible overnight camp for older : Murray Hill July 5-6.??

What our directors have been doing part 2: this summer Amy Cochrane coached, and performed with experts in this field German Lieder at the Academy of Fortepiano Performance, with the instruments intended for which these songs were written from and for. She also performed Katisha in The Mikado with Triphammer Arts of Ithaca and workshopped and performed with Tormenta D'amore, programs of early Italian music, and early music by women composers. Her inspirations are her Mom, Bernadine who was a well liked public school music teacher and her daughter Isabel who, after graduating GCS is studying music, was music director this past summer for an all treble, professional Acappella ensemble, Cape Harmony. Their plans are to continue their love of choral music in graduate school. Miss Amy will maintain her voice studio at RIT as well as her private students from her home in Geneseo.

What our directors have been up to in just this past year: Dane Noble Rosema, music directed the highly lauded production of Ordinary Days at RIT, played the Young Artists Concerts with Finger Lakes Opera, maintains his singing with Lee Wrights all professional choir First Inversion, also performing 2 piano highly innovative and moving concerts with Lee, recieving standing ovations, Music Directs at St. Timothy's in Geneseo, music directed Geneseo Community Players "A Musical Scrapbook" and maintains a following of singers that enjoy coaching their upcoming gigs with him! Dane is a gem for this group in that he was raised in the english choir tradition in South Africa, which is where he is from.

These auditions will be held at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church of Geneseo where one of our musical directors, Dane Noble Rosema, is the music director. Don't miss this opportunity to work with highly skilled musicians Amy Cochrane and Dane Noble Rosema!

We are holding auditions this year! Sign up sheet below. We are also changing our rehearsal times 9-10:30. Younger singers only for 45 min. All singers start at 9.
