This involves an absolute equality of personal rights and rights of property between former masters and slaves, and the connection heretofore existing between them becomes that between employer and hired labor. The freedmen are advised to remain quietly at their present homes and work for wages. They are informed that they will not be allowed to collect at military posts and that they will not be supported in idleness either there or elsewhere.”

Although President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation three years earlier — making slavery illegal by Jan. 1, 1863 — many enslaved people were still not free because slave owners in the south, and particularly Texas, neglected to tell the people they enslaved for months. The speech quoted above announced that the enslaved people were no longer legally allowed to be kept as property of their owners.
We are proud to celebrate this Juneteenth Day. May we all continue to push for equality for every human no matter their race, religion, ethnicity, or s*x.
We are very excited about how this project turned out for this very fun family! We have a few finishing touches to complete, and then we will do a formal photoshoot. But we couldn't wait to share with you this transformation!

Historians aren't pulling your leg when they say no one is quite sure about the origins of April Fools' Day.
April 1, the annual day of shenanigans, pranks, tricks and hoaxes, falls on Monday this year. While historians are unsure of the exact source of the tradition, they do know the custom goes back centuries, at least back to Renaissance Europe. Here's a look at what the experts say.
Middle Ages
Some historians believe France is responsible for the humorous tradition, tying it to a calendar change in 1582, according to the History Channel. That year, France implemented the Gregorian calendar, shifting the start of the New Year from the spring equinox, which usually falls around April 1, to January 1.
After the change, people who wrongly celebrated the new year in late March and early April were called "April fools."
