Sometimes I forget how relaxing and peaceful it is to kick back, drink some iced coffee and draw my dinosaurs.

It’s nice to see my books back on the shelf in the Dinosaurs section at B & N. I really need to get Book 2 done.

Thanks to Covid, I’ve had no book signings or school visits, but at some point that’ll come to an end and it’ll be business as usual!

I love it when my local Barnes & Noble reaches out to me for more of my books to sell! Thanks, Jodi!

If you’re in the East Valley, stop into the SanTan Mall location. They have a lot of cool stuff on sale! ( not just my book )

My kids have always been my biggest inspiration to me as an artist!

Without them, there probably wouldn’t be any fun and whimsical illustrations and books!

I’m curious... what’s your creative outlet and what inspires YOU?

10/13/2020

I’ve always LOVED dinosaurs! And in the last few years, they’ve become a major focal point of my art and prints that I create!

So if you happen to be a dinosaur lover or you happen to know some, stay tuned!! I have some fun things in store!

Since we’re all under lockdown, I’m focusing on getting my next picture book done. As a children’s book author and illustrator I’ve been thinking about putting character profiles like these in the back of each picture book.

It would have a portrait of the character along with a short biography or description.

I had some of these on my website, but the images were taking too long to load so I thought it might be cool to put directly in the back of the book.

As I create more books, I’ll introduce the newest characters.

I’d love it if the kids could get to know the characters better and beyond just the picture book story. In the future, I’ll probably create some trading cards or other products with the images.

What do you guys think of this? Do you feel this is something that kids would really like... or not really care much about it?

I think this is something that most kids would enjoy. But I’d like to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

Today was my first book signing for my debut picture book, ‘The Big Splash’. It’s Book 1 in the ‘Good Gracious Cretaceous’ book series.

It was so much fun. It was great to have so many people come out to support me and this project that I’ve been working on for over a year. The whole thing only lasted about an hour and a half, but it was crazy busy!

It was great to see a lot of old friends that I haven’t seen in ages, and also have a chance to connect with new friends from social media!

And to the awesome people at Barnes & Noble - Carlos, K.K., Jodi, John and the entire staff - THANK YOU for allowing me to share my book in your store with all of your customers!

It makes me so happy to hear that this was the biggest and one of the best author signings you’ve ever had at the store!

( And in case you missed it, they have a limited number of signed copies in the children’s book section )

Now to get working on Book 2 so we can do it again!

If you guys are coming to my event at Barnes & Noble and live in the Phoenix area, PLEASE SHARE this post with your friends!

Please RSVP on the link, so my friends at B & N know how many people to expect! Thank you 😊

I created some art for the Book 2 dedication page. It’s hard to believe that my dad’s already been gone for almost a year.

I wish he would’ve had a chance to see the first book get published. I’m sure he would’ve loved it. He was always my biggest fan and supporter.

Once again the Kindle version of my book will be free tomorrow. It’ll be my last free day for awhile.

If you like dinosaurs, have kids that do or just feel like showing some support, please feel free to download a copy and please, please leave a review!!

Thanks 🙂🙏

So, after many months, my hardcover books are finally HERE! I think the kids were more excited about their arrival than I was LOL The quality is AMAZING and I couldn’t be happier!

I’m still tweaking some parts of my website but it should be live in mid-January. If you’re interested in picking up a copy before then, feel free to send me a DM.

Thanks!

12/28/2019

So, I wanted to share something different...

While I’m waiting for my hardcover books to arrive and Book 2 to come back from my editor, I decided to create a comic page. Just for fun.

I’ve always thought about creating my own comic or a graphic novel, so here’s my first crack at making a page.

I won’t do anything with it now, but there’s a good chance I will in the future. I think it would be a great way to reach a slightly older audience than my picture books.

It would also be a really fun way for me to create back stories for a lot of the different dinosaur characters in a slightly different medium.

Please let me know what you think 🤔

12/23/2019

Since I’m waiting for my Book 2 manuscript to get edited and I’m also still waiting for my hardcover books to arrive ( early January), I decided to do something fun: create a page for a comic book or a graphic novel.

I’ve always loved the art in comic books and graphic novels, but I’ve never actually tried to create any of my own. So, I decided to do a page as a ‘test’. Down the road, I think it would be neat to be able to tell a lot of the back stories for the dinosaurs that you just can’t get in a children’s book.

I spent the last day and a half working on this. I just wanted to do something different and fun. It was cool to create and fun to think of a little storyline. Here is the digital inks. I’ll probably be coloring it tonight and then post it tomorrow.

Happy holidays, Everyone!

Here’s a piece I’ve been working on for my website and also for a future sign!

11/24/2019

Here’s the basic cover design for Book 2. I will be making a few design changes to it, but I have a question for you guys...

What title do you like better?

A ) The Sauropod that Soared

B ) The Sauropod who Soared
