Me trying to explain where this song, Pioneer Woman, came from to the audience at the Listening Room Café in Nashville, TN. Translation: I like to think that I am a pioneer woman, but some days I’m lazy as sin. Sometimes I need to learn when to just stop talking because it gets me in trouble. It’s really based on insecurities! What would your song be about? 😏 The rest of Pioneer Woman goes into a romance with a cowboy and this girl who is kind of out of control. She’s pouring sugar in his engine before she can scare him off so he can’t actually leave. She’s ripping the door off the hinges so she can’t slam it in his face. She’s making everything way harder than it needs to be “running uphill on a downhill slope like she’s never been in love before”. This guy is so good, she doesn’t want to lose him, she’s afraid she’s going to mess it all up, and she’s head over heels. Just reacting to every feeling. Maybe everyone knows he’s not great for her and has her under his spell, but she’s long gone. She won’t be free til he leaves her in the dust. Or maybe he’ll never leave her and they’ll run away as outlaws together, til death do them part. This song has a way of putting you under a spell. I don’t know what it is. First of all, thank you all for being here. Because, the number of Instagram followers you have has a role in determining how good you are at your craft😏 really I just applied for CMA fest and one of the questions is “how many Instagram followers do you have?” I kind of get it, if number of followers correlates with the number of audience members you can attract. But they also ask “how many Spotify monthly listeners do you have?” I’d really rather it be more about that. Because trying to keep up with Instagram, X, YouTube, tik tok, a website, etc is kind of nuts. I really dislike social media. It takes time away from real life, time away from my family, it sucks you in and it changes your priorities. I can see the benefits, the networking for small businesses and causes. But it’s not treated like a job. It’s treated like a huge part of everyone’s day-to-day life. It almost feels like if you’re not on social media enough, you are falling behind in some way. Whether it’s not posting enough, if you’re trying to achieve some thing, or missing updates from others. I don’t know what it is, but it has made itself such a looming presence and task and addictive habit. It makes connecting with other artists so easy, I don’t have to go out every night to venues to meet people, I can do it here. But I don’t want to be on here everyday or out every night😂 so what’s the solution? Sometimes I wish I could go back in time before smart phones. What to do, what to do. This year, balancing my time and priorities is my #1 goal. Determining what it is that I want to do with my life. As a mom, there is so much to consider. And goals I had before, change completely now that I have children to raise. My boys are my top priority, and how does a music career fit into that? I’m really not sure right now. I came to the conclusion in 2022, that I had to pursue music to the point where I given it my all. I didn’t live a life of wondering and wish

Last fall I spent a few days in Nashville and debuted Pioneer Woman at The Basement and The Listening Room with Song Suffragettes. That was the same trip that I sang for the first time at the Grand Ole Opry! I sang “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” (Opry theme song) with Lainey Wilson, Lauren Alaina and the TSC top 5 Hailey Verhaalen, Drew Hale and Austin Mcniell. This song, Pioneer Woman has been a long time in the making. I’ll be sharing some live performances leading up to the recording and release of the song!
