The folks from the Wyoming Nonprofit Network came to Gillette in early June to help local nonprofits spread the word about WyoGives. Karen came out from behind the camera to talk about the Gillette Chamber Singers. Mark your calendars to make your gift on July 10 at wyogives.org.
It was a windy day, but Heidi kept moving her hair out the way to tell us about WyoGives, coming up on July 10. Pick from your favorite nonprofit organizations and support the programs they provide for the community and state. Learn more at wyogives.org.
We’re looking for people who love to sing great music with northeast Wyoming’s premier chorale ensemble. Simply fill out our audition form at gillettechambersingers.com/auditions and we’ll contact you with all the details you’ll need. All voice parts are encouraged to audition so we can increase the size of our group and enhance our sound. Our fall season features our 2nd Annual Fall Choral Festival on October 11-12, the 32nd Annual Christmas Dinners on December 7 and 14, and A Service of Lessons and Carols on December 18 and 19.
We have a new Director! Steve Grussendorf will become our new Artistic Director to begin our upcoming fall season. Steve has taught choral music and directed choirs at Natrona County High School since 1996. He has been a choral clinician and adjudicator for schools all over the state of Wyoming since 1990, and directed the Casper Civic Chorale, an adult community choir, from 2012-2019.
He received his Master of Music degree from Colorado State University, and his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Wyoming. He also studied at Casper College under our past Artistic Director, Dr. Pat Patton.
Steve has directed choirs of all ages for the past 36 years, including middle and high school students, college students (Western Wyoming College and Casper College) and adult choirs (Green River Messiah Choir and the Casper Civic Chorale).
We are so excited to welcome Steve to our Gillette Chamber Singers’ family and can’t wait to start our fall season in September.
Our Bass section leader Mike McNutt and his wife Barb support several local nonprofits through WyoGives, and you can too! Mark your calendars for Wednesday, July 10 and give to your favorite organizations at wyogives.org.
Board member and alto section leader Sonja Brue tells us that people who sing in choirs tend to give more generously to other nonprofit organizations. WyoGives is coming up on July 10. It’s your chance to donate to the Gillette Chamber Singers and other nonprofit organizations in Campbell County and across the state in one easy, online location: wyogives.org.
Bill is one of our Board Members and a member of the Powder River Symphony. He supports WyoGives because it benefits many nonprofits in the community and throughout the state. Listen and learn more about the statewide day of online giving on July 10 at wyogives.org.
Listen to our favorite Accompanist and Music Librarian Diana Rutz, as she talks about why she supports WyoGives. Learn more about all the organizations that will benefit from the statewide day of online giving on July 10 at WyoGives.org.
It’s our 4th year of participating in WyoGives, a day of online giving for nonprofit organizations across the state of Wyoming. Our Treasurer Norm Curtis tells you why he is a supporter of WyoGives. Learn more about WyoGives at www.wyogives.org.
Congratulations to our Fall Choral Festival Scholarship recipients: Shayne Howe from TBHS and Emily Gonzales from Wright Jr/Sr High. Assistant Director Paul Ormseth and Board member Bill Rathbun presented the awards at each school’s Scholarship Night. Best wishes to these two great students—we know they have bright futures!
If you didn’t have the chance to catch our spring concert on May 4, check it out on our YouTube channel. We loved the music, and we know you will too! Thanks to Gillette Public Access TV for this recording.

Thanks to the Casper Civic Chorale and Cheyenne Capital Chorale for a great concert yesterday! We performed a few of our own pieces and joined the other two choirs with over 100 singers onstage at Wheeler Concert Hall. We hope to do it again sometime!
Save the date for this great statewide 24-hour fundraising event to bring the state together as one community to raise money and awareness for Wyoming’s nonprofits. It’s our 4th year of participating in WyoGives and we’re truly grateful to all our donors and supporters.
Here we are rehearsing “Sing Your Way Home”, with music by Joseph M. Martin. This piece has a folk-song quality to it with moments of barbershop harmonies. You can hear this and lots of other great songs at our spring concert, Made In America, Celebrating American Composers, on Saturday, May 4, 2024. We’re performing at 7 pm, First Presbyterian Church, 511 Carey Ave. in Gillette. There is no charge to attend, but donations are accepted to further our mission of bring choral music to the community. We hope to see you there!
Tickets are now available for our upcoming joint concert: Coming Together in Song on May 5, 2024. We’ll be performing at 3:30 pm in the beautiful Wheeler Concert Hall at Casper College. We’ll be joining the Casper Civic Chorale and the Cheyenne Capital Chorale to sing together, and perform our own music. You’ll hear The Road Home by Stephen Paulus, Wondrous Love as arranged by Alice Parker and Robert Shaw, and a traditional spiritual called My Good Lord’s a-Done-a Been Here. Scan the QR code below to purchase tickets.
Save the date! We’re excited to present a collaborative concert with the Casper Civic Chorale and Cheyenne Capital Chorale in the beautiful Wheeler Concert Hall at Casper College. We will be performing together, and each group will highlight some of their own music from recent concerts. It’s an opportunity for us to sing with these adult choirs from around the state—truly “coming together” with our love of choral music.
Save the Date! Our spring concert features all American choral composers. You’ll hear several spirituals, some of our all-time favorites like “The Road Home”, and “Frostiana” by Randall Thompson, which is a series of songs set to the poetry of Robert Frost. Believe it or not, we first sang “Frostiana” in 1997 under the direction of Dr. Jerry Winter. Some of us even remember singing this beautiful piece with Dr. Winter!
The holiday season is now officially over as we “undecorate” the Prime Rib Restaurant. Marilynn is sorting ornaments, Bill is taking down garland, and Sonja is vacuuming up A LOT of glitter. We’ll begin rehearsing for our spring season soon, which will feature a special joint concert in Casper on May 5 with the Casper Civic Chorale and the Cheyenne Capitol Chorale. And save the date for our spring concert in Gillette on Saturday, May 4.
It’s Christmas Eve-Eve, and we wish all our friends, families and supporters a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
