Join us on Saturday, April 8 at 4pm for a screening of 3 Weeks In Yerevan at the Los Feliz 3 with American Cinematheque, followed by a Q&A with Vahe Berberian and Vahik Pirhamzei, moderated by Armen Karaoghlanian. 3 Weeks In Yerevan is a heartwarming comedy about two filmmakers, Armen (Vahik Pirhamzei) and Raffi (Vahe Berberian), who go to Yerevan to shoot a feature film about a third generation American Armenian who goes to Yerevan to adopt a 12-year-old. The duo teams up with a local impresario Rubo (Hrant Tokhatyan), as they begin the arduous task of casting for the parts, scouting locations, and securing the last leg of the funding. This seemingly perfect plan becomes a perfect storm of absurd meetings, unexpected discoveries, and hysterical events, which come together to sabotage the project. The film is screening as part of American Cinematheque's Watch Local: Sister Cities series, which will include month-long screenings of films from Yerevan, Taipei, Mumbai, and Mexico City. https://www.americancinematheque.com/now-showing/3-weeks-in-yerevan-4-8-23/

Join Armenian Film Society on Thursday, September 1 at LOOK Cinemas in Glendale for the world premiere of BACK TO ASHTARAK. BACK TO ASHTARAK is a film about a man who returns to his hometown to relive the happiest moments of his childhood. The evening will consist of a screening of the 20-minute film, along with a Q&A with its director, Tigran Nersisian, followed by a reception. I saw the trailer for this short documentary recently and I reached out to Tigran, who I've only known over the years on Instagram, and asked if I could see the film. I was transported to a land I've never stepped foot in, to a family I am not a part of, but felt a deep attachment to. I immediately asked him if he'd be willing to let the Armenian Film Society host a screening of the film because I want to share this beautiful, poetic film with our community. The event is limited to 50 guests. Tickets include access to the screening, Q&A, as well as refreshments and small plates. Tickets will not be available at the door. Link in comments.
