Gospel: John 16:20-23
Meditation: The cross for Jesus was not defeat but victory - victory over sin, over the forces of evil in the world, and over the devil - the arch-enemy of God and the human race. Through his atoning sacrifice on the cross Jesus won for us new abundant life and freedom over the power of sin, despair, and death. He was raised in power from the tomb on the third day and his glorified body will never taste death again.
Prayer: "Lord Jesus, we are an Easter people, and alleluia is our song. Fill us with your Holy Spirit that we may radiate the joy of your Resurrection and live in the reality of your great victory over sin and death."
Jesus, may we not be afraid now that You're not physically with us, but through your Holy Spirit, may we not forget to trust in you, that whatever we ask of the Father, He will grant, through your name.
Petitions: healing and recovery, humor, forgivenes, friendship

Holy Day of Obligation: Ascension of Jesus
Gospel: Luke 24:46-53
Meditation: Jesus' departure and ascension into heaven was both an end and a beginning for his disciples. Jesus promised that he would be with them always to the end of time (Matthew 28:20). Now as the glorified and risen Lord and Savior, ascended to the right hand of the Father in heaven, Jesus promised to send them the Holy Spirit who would anoint them with power from on high. The disciples were filled with joy and with great anticipation for the coming of the Holy Spirit.
Prayer: "Lord Jesus, through the gift of your Holy Spirit, you fill us with an indomitable spirit of praise and joy which no earthly trial can subdue. Fill me with your resurrection joy and help me to live a life of praise and thanksgiving for your glory. May I witness to those around me the joy of the Gospel and the reality of your great victory over sin and death. "
Petitions: healing and recovery, hope, guidance, eternal rest for our dead brethren, esp. children in Uvalde
Mama Mary, pray for us. St. Joseph, pray for us. All ye angels and saints, pray for us.
Amen!
