Thank you to everyone who helped make 2023 so special!
I will be taking a hiatus from wedding planning through June of 2024 in order to focus on my family and baby girl who is due this spring! 🌸🎀🌸

THE EXIT

For those of you who don’t know me, I can be a bit of a princess 👸🏼 at times and I also love pirates 🏴‍☠️
So it seemed perfectly fitting to leave by boat when my aunt and uncle offered for us to use theirs!

The guests all blew bubbles as we walked through, but once the two of us hit the dock, we took off running! We were just so excited to be married!

Once on the boat, we climbed the ladders and waved goodbye to all of our friends and family who were still on the land. It was a true water loving princess exit! (Complete with a princess wave)

THE FAMILY

The family and the friends who might as well be family. We appreciate you being there to celebrate our marriage. We are blessed to have these special friends and family members in our life. And we are thrilled to know that they are standing on the sidelines cheering us on in our marriage and helping us stay centered on Christ.

THE CEREMONY

It is very important to us that we keep our marriage centered on Christ. We want to be an example of His love to us for others to see. This is one of the reasons we not only had a prayer time where our parents prayed over our marriage, we had communion time, and also served communion to all of our family and friends who were there celebrating with us.

Also, we had my favorite officiant - my dad!
I have grown up attending weddings where my dad was officiating and always dreamed of the day where he would not only walk me down the aisle, give me away, but also officiate my own wedding. I am truly blessed to have him play such a pivotal role in our wedding! 🤍

THE HELPING HANDS

There are so many people who were behind the scenes prepping for the wedding day, working and serving on the wedding day. We are so blessed to have such an amazing community surround us, love us, and support us on our wedding day! 🤍

FIRST LOOK AND PRAYER TIME

To start off our wedding day, we felt that it was of the utmost importance to start our wedding and marriage in prayer.
Sunrises have always been important to me and the time when I seem to hear God speaking clearest through the sunrises as He displays His glory. There was no better way to start off our wedding day.
Thank You LORD for the beautiful sunrise and the symbolism of the beautiful start to our marriage.

We’re down to just 7 days until I get to marry the man of my dreams!
This last week of wedding and marriage preparation has been one for the books!
We:
🤍got our marriage license
🤍had another premarital counseling session
🤍did our “cake tasting”
🤍signed the lease on our first apartment
🤍began the process of merging our houses/lives together into one place (thanks to our dads for volunteering to be free manual labor!)
🤍and today was our I Do BBQ! We are so thankful for all of the friends and family members who were able to make it! We love you all!

I cannot wait for all the things that these next few days have in store for us as we are counting down the hours until we are officially husband and wife!!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again!

Don’t get so focused on planning your wedding that you neglect to plan for your marriage.

Here’s some things I’m currently doing to prepare for our marriage:
🤍 pre-marital counseling (with plans for us to continue after we are married as well)
🤍 reading my Bible - God’s Word is the ultimate guide
🤍 praying for my soon-to-be-hubby! I have been praying for my future husband basically all of my life but I started intentionally praying for him every day last fall (before I even know who he would be.)
🤍 seeking wisdom from others through conversation with those I respect, sisters in Christ who are ahead of my in the marriage journey, and also by reading.

What books do you recommend?

It’s officially wedding month! I can’t wait to marry the love of my life in just 19 days!

Wedding planning can be stressful. Your mind is constantly swirling with all of the details.
Do yourself a favor. Take a deep breath. Relax. Go do something fun.
Don’t forget to enjoy your life while planning!

3 Reasons Why Brides Should Hire A Wedding Planner:

🤍 You want someone on your side who has experience in the wedding planning process. Wedding planning takes more time than you realize. You need a planner on your team who can help you plan as there are many small details that can change an event. They know when to make decisions and book vendors, how long each event will take, what order the wedding day festivities should be in order to keep the party going.

🤍 You want someone who has connections to other trusted vendors. You will want someone who has relationships with other trusted vendors who can be on your team.

🤍 You want a planner on your team who is experienced and professional. They will be able to keep you organized, take the stress away from you and handle any issues that may arise throughout the planning process and on your wedding day.

No one can truly read your mind. Speak up for yourself.

🤍 If you have a question, then ask. No one expects you to be an expert in weddings.
🤍 If you want your hair and makeup to look a certain way, then say so. This is why there are trials so you can test the look.
🤍 If your well meaning aunt keeps giving you her unsolicited opinion and it is making you overwhelmed, take a deep breath and calmly let her know that you appreciate her opinion but you will ask for her advice when necessary.
🤍 If you want the reception space to be designed a certain way or have a certain feel to it, then tell your planner.

Your team of vendors that you hired are here to make your wedding vision come to life. You just need to communicate.

Bring a friend with you during your pictures as a couple.
You are going to want to have some support from your best friend, someone to hold your bouquet, your extra lipstick for touch ups between photos of kissing your hubby, and even help as your personal stylist to fix your hair and your veil when needed.

Try to have a sense of humor on your wedding day. Not everything will go exactly according to plan since other human beings are involved. Try to find the positive and the humor in it. It will make your day more enjoyable and fun (plus you’ll be less stressed)!

Are you newly engaged and don’t know where to start with your wedding planning process?
Here are a few tips to help you begin:

✨ Create a SECRET Pinterest board - that’s right, keep it a secret! You don’t want your great aunt three times removed to see your dream wedding board and then call you to inform you on all of her opinions.

✨ Start writing a journal to keep track of all of the positive moments during this season of being engaged to the love of your life. 🤍

✨ Start going to pre-marital counseling as a couple. You want to make sure that your marriage has a strong foundation.

✨Hire a wedding planner! They will help guide you through the wedding planning process and will be one of the most valuable sources of information as you plan your wedding.

Put your tissue in the bouquet. It’s best to keep the tissues close by in case you have a tear or two during the ceremony. You never know when you’ll wish to have it close by.

Create a vision for your wedding so that you can work out what will work best for you for your wedding.

Your wedding vision board, whether Pinterest or an old-school version using a poster board and magazine cutouts, will be what your vendors use as a guide throughout the wedding planning process.

When creating your seating chart, make sure to list your guests’ names in alphabetical order by last name. This makes it easier for guests to find their names more easily and not feel the need to flag down someone to help them locate their assignment.

Make sure your wedding priorities and your budget are in sync. You want to focus spending your money on things that are important to you.

One of the most commonly overlooked details is forgetting to assign cleanup at the end of the night.
You don’t want to be on your way to wedded bliss only to be interrupted with phones of people asking who is taking what and where everything is going! 😯
Make sure you assign the following categories to someone and make sure they know where to take the items
- cards and presents
- floral arrangements
- decor that you brought
- left over food and alcohol
