So proud of them both as they played an amazing tournament filled with both scoring a try and great playing minutes!!
SENIOR APPRECIATION ALERT 🚨: Our co-captain and #15, Michaela Adams is dangerous on the field. After coming from a rugby family and playing in high school, Michaela brought her talents and heart to the Orediggers. A quick and intelligent offensive player with a heavy hitting defense, Michaela has been a staple to Mines Women’s Rugby throughout her 4 years. She sacrificed blood, sweat, and tears for this team! We admire her love for rugby and her dedication to the team! Michaela has had an immeasurable impact on Mines Women’s Rugby and this program is so grateful to have had her! Thank you so much for being a fantastic teammate, leader, and friend! We know she’ll tackle life with her entire heart and soul! Keep going for tries and stiff-arming any challenges coming at you!
SENIOR APPRECIATION POST ALERT 🚨: Our co-captain and fly-half, Piper Bailey brought physicality as well as heart to our team! With previous rugby seasons under her belt, Piper entered college with a determination to push Mines Women’s Rugby to greatness! A dual edged sword, she was a threatening defender and a game changing offensive player. Mines Women’s Rugby thanks Piper for the leadership, commitment, drive, and support that she brought to the team! She has been essential in the growth of this program and the rookie players. Piper has been a fantastic leader, friend, and teammate! Her passion and love for rugby will continue on within the team, and we hope to make her proud. She is a powerful person with unmatched motivation to succeed. We are beyond thrilled to watch her jam into new opportunities during study abroad and hope to have her back for our next 7s season!
SENIOR APPRECIATION POST ALERT 🚨: Maggie Piwowarczyk has been an amazing offensive and defensive presence on our team for the past 5 years! She brings life to the team both on and off the pitch. Her fitness is unmatched and her skill makes her a bomb!Maggie’s passion and dedication to this team deserves a world of thanks. She has brought this team joy, experience, leadership, and has only made positive contributions to Mines Women’s Rugby! Her warm positive attitude has made this team so welcoming and such a good environment! While we will miss her greatly, Maggie is going to make an explosion as she enters life post college and we can’t wait to see her impact!
SENIOR APPRECIATION POST ALERT 🚨: Claire Lautman came from her Varsity swim career to join rugby for her last semester in college! Not only did she dedicate herself to learning rugby but she was an amazing teammate! Claire always put full effort and had an amazing energy. Her teammates appreciated Claire’s friendship and the laughs that she brought! She showed amazingly positive energy during 7s Nationals and Mines Women’s Rugby could not be more glad that she joined! We are all cheering for Claire as she continues her journey and know that she will be great wherever she goes! Thank you Claire for being part of Mines Women’s Rugby!
SENIOR APPRECIATION POST ALERT 🚨: Next up is this absolute beast, Tori Polda! As our #8, she was everywhere on the field and the nightmare of other teams. Unafraid of contact, Tori went headfirst into collisions (a little too literally), which caused an unfortunate early ending to her season. However, she contributed heavily to our defense and offense as an explosive threat! Mines Women’s Rugby was glad to have her as a member of this team. We thank Tori for her time playing with us and making memories of a lifetime. As her teammates and friends, we cannot wait to see what other amazing opportunities she takes head on and the challenges that she tackles! (P.S sorry for the bloody photos but didn’t she take it like a champ?)
SENIOR APPRECIATION POST ALERT 🚨: Starting off with Jane Turek, our beloved ho**er! Jane was a beast on the field. Offensively explosive, running through defenders and a lockdown defender, making huge tackles (with nearly no missed tackles). Although her season was cut short due to injury, Jane remained an integral part of the team. Through her leadership, support, and experience, Mines Women’s Rugby benefited greatly. Mines Women’s Rugby thanks Jane for all of her contributions to our team throughout the years!! We will miss our #2 but we can’t wait to see the next challenges she takes on and where she will take her talent in the future!
