New Arrivals at Lola's stocked up for the weekend! Come on in from the rain and find a nice little book to curl up with.

The overhaul of TOME is complete and ready for you to browse at ease! It was a long weekend of categorizing and alphabetizing, but I'm confident that this new setup will give y'all a much smoother shopping experience. I'm particularly relieved to finally have genre tags and a much needed "new arrivals" section. I've probably added about 50 or so new books for you to take home, so come check it out!

And huge thanks to the lovely Hildegard of .vintage without whom none of this would be possible.

To give you a sneak peak of things ahead, I plan on switching out the current cute (yet cantankerous) cabinet that homes TOME for something more conventional and accommodating for ease of perusal. I'm hoping that a little organization may go a long way toward your ability to find new treasures with a little less chaos. Anyways, here's to Fall stretching it's cool ankle round the corner of our year. The perfect weather approaches for an opportune read.

This week, I want to highlight some great collections of short stories you can find on the shelves!

I’m a firm believer in the notion that, when it comes to reading, you can have both quality AND quantity. Weighty books with long, intricate plots and thoroughly developed characters certainly have their merits, but there’s something about dipping into the momentary world of a short story that can feel just as profound. What’s more is that a collection of stories affords the experience of moving through many of these literary worlds in a relatively short time. It can be tough to make time to read in this on-the-go life many of us live nowadays, but short stories provide a low-commitment, yet still quite immersive, way to get in a daily dose of books!

Hello Facebook! I'm Connor, the blood, guts, and brains behind TOMEbooks&such.

There are few places I feel as much at home as in a used book store. Each book acts as a portal into a world outside of our scope, revealing the complexities of our world, the fantasies of our imaginations, and offering the possibility of stepping away transformed. Of used books in particular, I cherish their wornness, the accumulation of a previous history throughout which their effect has lost little, if any, potency.

My hope for TOME is to share this experience with you. I'll be bringing a new selection of books every week, across a variety of topics and genres ranging from golden age science-fiction to true crime to contemporary classics to poetry in translation and much more. My humble cabinet of books can be found at Lola’s Vintiques in the heart of Downtown Goldsboro, NC. I've starting things small, but with time my plan is to continue to expand, allowing for even more opportunities to find exactly that book you didn't know you were looking for. So, please, follow along!
