The stigma of Trauma is Real!

The stigma of trauma is indisputable. Stigma comes from misguided views or a lack of knowledge and understanding.

Trauma can be natural disasters, early childhood experiences, a car accident, or the global pandemic.

Peter Levine states, ” Trauma is the most avoided, ignored, denied, misunderstood and untreated cause of human suffering.”

The roots of trauma are as widespread as our lives. The challenge of trauma is REAL! It's NOT going away!!!!

Healing trauma is not linear. Choosing to embody healing from trauma is both courageous and brave. For many, the healing process can be slow and tedious. However, the compassion and empathy for yourself and others begin to unfold.

Do you want to hear a story?

Fear and rejection feel like a muscle. I know from my own experience that the more I move my body, the more natural it becomes not to let fear and rejection run me.

Fear and rejection can have many other implications throughout a lifetime. Refusal to acknowledge emotions can have devastating effects on the nervous system creating a person stuck in fear, pain, and shame. It can also lead to possible withdrawal, isolation, feelings of loneliness, and emptiness. Have you experienced rejection or fear?

Through healing my past trauma, I began to recognize how it affected me by making decisions. Making decisions has invariably created self-doubt, fear, and rejection. Making big decisions would result in me feeling tense. Have you struggled with decision-making based on fear?

Over the years, Pilates has enabled me to strengthen and improve my body coordination and awareness. Pilates has also helped keep me grounded and centered as well. Movement with Pilates and breath has created an inner calmness and ease. It is vitally important to do the inner work to make a calm nervous system to support your students. As a movement teachers establish a safe, trusting environment for the students to move with curiosity and creativity.
