Our upcoming Women's Health Workshop for Continuing Education

For hundreds of years and countless centuries herbal medicine has been an important part of the practice of traditional healthcare as well as massage and manual therapy. During the 1970's I had the great privilege of training with physicians who went to school or practiced during the late 1800's and early 1900's. A common denominator among them all was their use of herbal medicines for the treatment of their patients. Over the last 50 years of my teaching career, I have been bringing this knowledge to my students and teaching them about the value and benefits of herbal medicines and preparations, whether used internally or externally.

Tai Chi Chuan, Dao Yin, and Chi Kung are outstanding forms of gentle exercise for the prevention and treatment of arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions. They are equally beneficial for rehabilitation following joint replacement surgery.

What is medical massage therapy and how does it differ from other kinds of massage?

Struggling to explain what medical massage therapy is and how it differs from general or therapeutic massage? The AMMA has an excellent brochure that explains the differences and has a brief 6-minute audio video presentation to accompany the brochure. These items are available to AMMA members and only to AMMA members for their professional use. Contact the AMMA to learn more. Here is the video presentation on medical massage therapy.

I am announcing the expansion of the AcuMyoTherapy training program. I am adding several new elements, modalities, and skill sets to the program. The new class will begin at 9 AM on Monday, February 5th, 2024. On February 26, and as part of the AMT training program, I will be conducting an in-depth presentation on the use of castor oil packs to modulate the parasympathetic nervous system and for the treatment of musculoskeletal, neurological, respiratory, abdominal, and pelvic disorders. Students will learn how to combine castor oil with herbal blends and mixtures to create medical poultices. I will also teach students how to make and use Asian herbal compresses. The February 26th class will be available to BHA students, graduates, and AHS members as a one-day seminar. Contact the BHA office to register for the entire AMT course or AHS to register for the one-day seminar. We will be setting up a payment portal for those who want to register into the program.
