After watching the video, you can use some of these tips to help you slow down your meals! - Sit down to eat in a calm environment with minimal distractions - Choose high fiber foods that take more time to chew such as fruits and vegetables - put down your utensils between bites. Taking a moment to breathe, and engage in conversation, if you are eating with others - Find another slow eater and pace yourself to them - Set aside time to eat. At least 20 to 30 minutes. SPLIT SQUAT "DO'S" AND "DON'TS!" 👇 Split squats are one of those exercises that when done correctly, can provide a whole lot of benefit. But, when they are done wrong, it can lead to a whole lot of trouble. Some of the most common mistakes we see during our training sessions: ❌ Too much weight shifting from front foot to back foot ❌ Stance too narrow or too wide ❌ Front knee caving in ❌ Back knee hyper extending These can all lead to... ➡️ Loss of balance during the movement ➡️ Lack of force production from the main muscles that should be driving the movement ➡️ Potential increased injury risk in knee's and low back While these are all possible issues that can occur during a split squat, we chose to focus on the most common one we see during our training sessions: ❌ Back knee hyper extending When this happens, it will often cause the low back to over extend which puts unceccesary pressure and wear and tear on those joints. The good news is, the fix is really simple! ✅ Focus on keeping your back knee feeling "relaxed" or "soft" throughout the movement This will help prevent extension in the lumbar spine and will also help you keep your weight toward your front leg. Try this next time you find yourself doing split squats. Hope this helps! HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR PULL-UPS! 👇 For many people, pull-ups are one of the most beneficial exercises for gaining strength, but they can also be one of the most difficult to do correctly. One of the biggest mistakes we see many people make is using too much speed and momentum through the pulling movement. This often causes the upper trap to become too engaged, and the lats to not be used to their full potential. In other words, the muscles we ideally want to be using during the movement are being taken over by the upper trap muscles. To fix this, do the following: ➡️ Lower yourself down from the top with control. (This means going slower on the way down) ➡️ When pulling up, try and maintain as much space between your ears and your shoulders as possible. ➡️ Complete a full range of motion. Lowering yourself all the way down until your arms are fully extended will help prevent you from using extra momentum on the way up. 🚨WARNING: Yes, if you're used to using a lot of momentum in your pull ups, this will make them feel a lot more challenging and you'll probably do LESS pull-ups than you were before. Don't let that discourage you! It will only help you get stronger and eventually do more pull ups with proper form than you ever could before.🚨 Trust the process! 💪 Try these tips next time you find yourself doing pull-ups and watch your strength gains grow!
