Grapevine Gazelles Track Club

The Gazelles Track Club qualified 15 athletes in 28 events for the upcoming TAAF State Games of Texas track and field meet in Brownsville!

We also have Taryn Jenkins qualified for both the USA Track and Field and AAU National Junior Olympics!

Zoe Banis and Isaiah Harris have both qualified for the USA Track and Field National Junior Olympics in two weeks! Congratulations!

Awesome performances by everyone on the. Gazelles Track Club at the TAAF Region 4 meet the past two days! So proud of all these young athletes!

We’ll see everyone next Monday, May 13th at the Heritage Middle School track in Colleyville at 7:00 pm for the first Gazelles practice, parent meeting, and registration. If you’re in the Northwest ISD area, we’ll have the same thing the next evening at 7:00 pm at the Pike Intermediate School track.

The Gazelles Track Club season begins in a few months. The first practice and parent meeting will be at the Colleyville Heritage Middle School track on Monday, May 13th at 7:00 pm. We will repeat this the next day for our Northwest families at the Gene Pike intermediate School track (behind Pike Middle School) on Tuesday, May 14th at 7:00 pm. We welcome all kids ages 5-18 with no tryouts to join.

During the meetings, we will present information about the Gazelles, schedules, coaching and training philosophies, registration fees, and ordering team uniforms. The first practice session will be held during this meeting and cover the warmup and stretching routine used throughout the season, as well as an introduction to proper running form and technique.

We look forward to seeing you and you kids soon.

Former Gazelles standout Kamdyn Moody just finished her first season on the Oklahoma Baptist University track team, placing 3rd in the heptathlon as a freshman. Kamdyn is spending her summer training for next season, and coaching young Gazelles athletes in sprinting and hurdling. Congratulations, Kamdyn!

Throwback to last July as current Gazelles coach Ashlyn Parish was celebrating her 100 meter hurdles State Championship! Ashlyn will be running track and studying Biomedicine at Dixie State University in Utah in a few months. For now, she’s training young Gazelle athletes in sprinting and hurdling. Congratulations, Ashlyn!

Former Gazelles Track Club athletes Rachel Sutliff, running for the University of Tennessee, and Abby Geiser, running for Duke University, at an indoor track meet at Virginia Tech University. Proud to have coached both of them, and very excited for their athletic and academic futures! Abby just earned All-American status as a freshman member of Duke’s 4x100 meter relay!

Recent Gazelles Track Club hurdler T.J Caldwell earned a silver medal for his 2nd place finish in the 110 meter high hurdles at the USA Track and Field U20 National Championship meet last weekend in Eugene, Oregon. The rising college sophomore at Pittsburgh State ran a blazing 13.34, and qualified for the IAAF World U20 Track and Field Championships in August in Cali, Columbia. T.J. coached for the Gazelles last summer while training with us for college hurdling. He also stopped by practice this Wednesday to visit with the kids. Congratulations, T.J., we’re so proud of you!

The Gazelles Track Club will begin again on May 16th at 7:00 pm at the Heritage Middle School track for our first practice and parent meeting. Bring your child that evening and they can workout while you register them at the parent meeting.

The Gazelles had a great showing at the State Games of Texas in Corpus Christi. In addition to Ashlyn Parish winning the 18U 100 hurdles and placing 2nd in the high jump, Nathan Hendrix earned the bronze medal by placing 3rd in the 10U boys 1,600 meter run.

In the 18U men’s division, William Ecklar placed 4th in the high jump and Jaden Jenkins placed 6th in the 110 meter hurdles. Nicholas Blevins placed 8th with an outstanding PR time of 52.37 in the 16U men’s 400 meter dash.

Congratulations to all the Gazelles athletes for your hard work and outstanding accomplishments this summer! Thanks to all our parents for allowing your kids to be part of our family and organization, and for the support you show to athletes and coaches! We’ll see everyone next May!

Ashlyn Parish of the Gazelles Track Club became a state champion this morning by winning the 18U 100 meters hurdles in a time of 14.89! Ashlyn will be a senior at Trophy Club Byron Nelson High School and is being recruited to run track in college. We’re proud of you, Ashlyn!

First circuit track meet of the season is this Saturday at Lake Dallas High School beginning at 8:00 am.

The latest update on the Gazelles Track Club's 2020 season is we’re still on hold. The GCISD has closed all campuses, including the track at Heritage Middle School where we train. Additionally, the NWISD has also closed all their campuses, including the Northwest High School track where our Northwest team trains. The earliest these campuses would open is June 1st, although the decision whether to keep them closed all summer won’t be made for another few days.

Region 4 of the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) has cancelled all the circuit meets in June and the Regional track and field meet in July. The TAAF state board has not made a decision on whether to cancel the State Games of Texas, tentatively scheduled for the end of July, but it looks like that will be cancelled, too.

With all this uncertainty, the Gazelles Track Club is waiting for further guidance on whether we should have only workouts this summer at the Colleyville and Northwest locations. If the school campuses remain closed all summer, we will have no choice but to cancel our entire training season, too.

If the school boards decide to re-open, we would likely begin practices on Monday evening, June 8th at 7:00 pm at the Heritage Middle School track. We would have the first workout, along with the parent meeting. The Northwest location would likely begin the next night, on Tuesday, June 9th at 7:00 pm at the Northwest High School track.

All track meets for this summer have been cancelled, so we will have workouts only. Both the Colleyville and Northwest locations would have two practices each per week on different evenings, and participants can go to as many as 4 or as few as they wish at either location.
