2022 GSCA National Specialty & Agility Trial

The Gordon Setter Club Of America's 39th National Specialty Show with Junior Showmanship, and Agilit

Jim Thacker won't be able to ring steward at our National. Is there anyone interested in taking on that task? Please let me know asap. Thank you

We have an unfortunate situation with our National. Our Judge, Wayne Cavanaugh, will not be able to Judge. I am working with the GSCA Board and with the Windy City Cluster with options on a replacement for him. We wish Mr. Cavanaugh well as he goes through his health issues. I will keep you posted when a replacement has been made. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

There are no showers at the fairgrounds for the National. I will be happy to make my hotel room available to anyone who wants to use the showers.

Hope you all get your entries in!!

A couple of updates:
4-6 puppy is only $10, not $25 as shown in first release of the Premium List.
Dogs entered in Veteran Sweepstakes do NOT need to be owner handled.

GOLF CART RENTAL: We can secure rentals at $145 per day, delivered, for June 16, 17, and 18th. However, at that price we need to reserve 10 carts. The price would increase if under 10 total. Any questions should be directed to Jodi Hurd.

For those anxiously awaiting.... The premium list is now available on the GSCA Websitehttps://gsca.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/22-0602GordonNatlPremList.pdf

The National is in it's final stages. Premium is supposed to be out by April 15th. The Superintendent is BaRay.

Michele Pena and Mary Gill are working on trophies and along with Jody Hurd, the Exhibitor Bags will have some great items for you.
Laura Bedford needs your ads by May 1.
The Logo Wear is out and ready for your orders.
The seminar on our breed has already many judges signed up and Mick Osman will be ready for them.
Barb Manson is working on a great dinner on Friday night to include the Annual Membership meeting and Awards Banquet. Watch for more information on the dinner and get your reservations in.

I am sorry to say that Obedience, Rally and Agility will not take part due to the lack of interest in entries. It is a lot of work to put on when only 1 or 2 people have committed to entering. I so appreciate everything Kathy Hubbard did to try and make it work. She did a yeoman's job to get it all off the ground but sadly, there was not enough interest to make a go of it.

Please get your entries in and don't forget to put your DNA # on your entry you it will not be accepted. (dogs with an ILP/PAL number entering Agility, Obedience, Rally or Hunt Tests at a National Specialty are not required to have a DNA number on file with the AKC. The DNA requirement is for fully registered dogs of known parentage only.)

Also, we will be offering Puppy Bred By Class.

A list of hotels can be found here:

Thank you and see you in June.

GSCA members should have an email with the hotel information. In case you missed it, or if you are not a member, here is the information: A group rate has been secured at Sonesta Simply Suites in Libertyville , IL. We would suggest calling rather than doing it on line. Attached is the information on the rooms and rates. There is a one time pet fee. These are all Suites.
Studio Suite $84.00
One Bedroom $104.00
The phone Number is 847-247-9900 and be sure to ask for the group rate with the Gordon Setter Club.
Reservations must be received by the Hotel on or before 5-01-2022 (the “Cut-Off Date”). Thereafter, reservations will be accepted on a space and rate availability basis.

Rates are subject to applicable state and local taxes (currently 11 %) in effect at the time of check-in.

Pets are allowed but a fee will apply. Guests must notify the front desk before check-in and sign a pet lodging agreement. Pet fees are $75.00 for 6 days per room.
There are many other hotels in the Grays Lake area, but this was the best rate we could get. It is about 10 minutes from the show site.

Hello Fellow Gordonites – We have information on the 2022 National Specialty to be held in Gray Lake, IL on June 17th and 18th. Our judges for Conformation are Wayne Cavanaugh, all Regular Classes, Sally Gift for Puppy Sweepstakes and Gordon Chambers for Veteran Sweepstakes. We are still working on where the Obedience, Rally and Agility are going to be and who is judging those events. Sarah Krickeberg is working with the performance people in the area to find a suitable location and judges to hire. Sarah is also working with local hotels to find a suitable place for hosting our exhibitors at a reasonable rate. More information to come in that regards. There are several hotels and restaurants in the area for everyone to make appropriate choices. Information will be passed on as it comes in. Donnah Brnger will be doing our Website. Others on our Committee are Barb Manson, Hospitality, and Michelle Pena, Trophies,

Our conformation will all be indoors in climate controlled rings. However, our Veteran Sweepstakes will be outdoors, in the late afternoon, early evening under lights to make it a very special event for our veteran entries.

This is not going to be a long drawn out National due to the short period of time for preparations. The Sweepstakes Judging will be on Friday, Veterans Sweepstakes will be Friday late afternoon, evening and the National will be on Saturday. If we need to extend it through Sunday, we will anticipate doing so. Our Judges Education Seminar is scheduled Thursday, June 16th at 10:30 AM – Erika Wyatt is in charge of scheduling all the Seminars at this Cluster, which was extensive last year so I wanted to get it as close to the National as possible so those that want to learn about breed will have the best opportunity to get it all in, if possible.

That’s all I have for now, but stay tuned for more information as it comes.
