This little 10x10” painting, called “Arizona Dreaming” was accepted into a show in Tucson, titled Stillness. I’ll be delivering it on Saturday to the . This collage is all hand painted or printed paper except for a little silver and white striped tissue paper. I’m really enjoying abstracted imaginary landscapes.

Such a great idea! I want to go next time I’m in KC!
An immersive museum in Kansas City allows kids to explore their favorite books A new museum in Kansas City is designed for kids to be immersed in their favorite books, including classics like Goodnight Moon.
At my country school in Kansas, they didn’t offer kindergarten. I I guess I’m making up for it.
I would never have guessed I’d be so engrossed with the seemingly childish activities of painting , cutting and glueing now that I’m 73 years old!
So far I’ve made two ocean triptychs. I made the first for Matt, Laurel and Baker in the beachy San Diego home.
I’ve been working on this one, with a “million” hand painted, printed and cut bits of paper, for over a week. Liking it. It’s like magic, lighting my brain with surprise with how each sliver of paper makes a difference.
“It’s a New Day” 36x48”. Some times it takes days to know where the next step is, as I learn to accept what is. Life is constantly changing and with it, I must adjust. As we age it seems the adjustments are less invited but just as necessary.
SOLD Number 6 in the Series is “Getting frisky”, it’s tissue paper, rice paper, acrylic paint, and Posca acrylic markers. So fun!!
12x12, headed to a collector in Idaho.
SOLD! Number 5 in my series of floral 12x12’s is “So Delightful”. I love the colors and layers in this one. Especially happy with how the stems in the vase turned out and all the colors in the leaves. This one uses tissue paper, rice paper? Acrylic paint, neocolor 2 crayons and maybe more. 🤪
Available. Framed in black, wired and ready to hang. dM me if it’s yours.
Number 4 in my floral collection. “Live Boldly” was chosen at the studio tour by a happy couple. Collage of assorted papers on canvas. 12x12
On this one, the yellow flowers and white/black vase were envelope paper. The rest of the foreground collage papers were created by me. 🙂. Scribbles, polka dots and asemic writing. Such fun!
Last weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, several of my artist friends and I participated in the Open Studio Tour sponsored by Tubac Center of the Arts. Would you believe over 600 people came through my home! It was fun to meet new people, and so appreciate the new collectors.
Here are a few photos. I didn’t take many photos, I was too busy talking to people.
Number 3 in my 12x12 flower series is called “You are Beautiful”. It’s made with layers of rice paper, markmaking, tissue paper, painted paper, and acrylic paint. I kind of love this one! The colors delight me!
Number 2 in my new daily post of flower paintings. “Evening Song” is one of the bolder designs in this series. It includes several layers of hand painted papers applied as collage plus acrylic paint.
Contact me to purchase. It’s 12x12 in a nice black frame.
Every few years I decided to do a series of flower paintings. Last time was 2017. I’ll say one thing, painting flowers is so therapeutic!! This fall I needed some flower therapy and over the past 6 months I created a whole series of new flower paintings.
I’d love to send one to you. I’ll post one each day for the next week. Cost is $200 including shipping to the US. Here’s the first. This is 12x12 in a nice black frame. Wired and ready to hang. The title is “Golden Glow” for the gold background that shines through in places. PM me to purchase.
I’ve been painting flowers, and have a whole collection of new paintings for the Open Studio Tour. Here’s a sample, with details from 3 paintings.
The Open Studio, with 3 of my artist friends, will be Friday Saturday and Sunday this week, from 10- 4. In conjunction with theTubac Center of the Arts
Working on this for my daughter McKensie. I seldom do representational (realistic) art and this is a challenge. Practice piece on the right. Reference photo on left. In process. I’ll post another photo if I ever finish it!
Closeup of just part of another flower painting I’ve been working on. I’m participating in a very popular Open Studio Tour in March, sponsored by Tubac Center of the Arts. Building up inventory for a big crowd.
If you’re thinking of a visit to Arizona, consider the second weekend of March. Hundreds of artists open their home studios! Last year we had over 300 people from all over the country. So fun!
And in case you wonder how I got the colorful lines, I used Posca Pens.

A sample of the new small work I’ll be showing at the Quail Creek Fall Festival tomorrow and Sunday. These outdoor festivals are a great chance to see lots of friends and to find new collectors. They are also a lot of work! These are small, I also will have large work to show.
If you’re in the area of a green Valley or Tucson, come by and say hi, especially on Sunday. I have a conflict for part of the day tomorrow.
Ok yes, obviously true.
How about a last minute art retreat? I had to cancel my spot in this fun mixed media class. It’s next week in beautiful Sedona AZ. Elizabeth St Hillaire is a fun and inspiring teacher.
I paid $575 for the workshop. Would love for you to go for $400.

Working on a new style. Something in me is always interested in learning and doing something new and different. Will try a few more of this style and see what I think.
Yellow Chrysanthemum
Acrylic on wood. 10x10. Available.
Away from my studio and letting this one “mature” a little while I’m gone. This triptych is definitely mixed media, with collage (mostly gelli printed papers), acrylic paint, graphite, acrylic crayons, and oil pastels….. so far…. Wonder where it will lead me when I return home?
I've been neglecting my account here while I've been traveling. Just finished taking a 4 week oil pastel class with the wonderful teacher Laura Milkins. We learned the basics of how to use this medium, and applied it to landscape, still life, a bird, and portrait. She's a wonderful teacher! So happy she is now teaching in our community!
Playing in my art journal today with shapes and colors and collage. Not sure where this will end up but enjoying the colors and textures. Experimenting without concern for the end result = creativity.
In the classes I teach, the focus is on fun, creativity and play. I love the journal cover Barb created in the last series! She used a lot of gelli printed papers and other papers. So fun and creative! Art by Barbara Miller
20 minutes of art can make you live longer. Here are easy ways to add it into your day, according to a brain scientist Drawing, dancing, and even humming can strengthen your brain.
I’m out of town and spending time improving my skill with the Procreate program on my iPad. I took two free online classes yesterday, an online digital collage class with a teacher in Munich, and a painting class with Ali Kay, where real paint and canvas is normally used. It’s interesting to see how other teachers teach art, especially online. I also created a white, black and pink design for a phone case on Zazzle. It’s great to have time for playing around with no pressure.
