Monterey Bay Herb Company’s mission is to empower small and medium businesses that utilize the power of herbs to promote wellness in the world. Made for herbalists like us!
Their online storefront is a portal to over six hundred botanical products, including dried herbs, spices, and teas.
Their customers include herbalists, health stores, skin, beauty care, beverage, and food brands. They keep coming back because they do three things really well – deliver on our quality standards, have a strong in-stock position, and are priced very competitively.
BIG thanks to Monterey Bay Herb Company for supporting our conference and community!
We’re so honored to have the In Living Color space open throughout our conference for a third year! There is also a BIPoC community class this year on The 411 on Operating a Successful, Compliant & Ethical Herbal Business.
This space was created and will be facilitated by Amanda David and Mandana Boushee, who’re both herbalists and incredible leaders dedicated to dismantling systems of oppression and sharing herbalism from a decolonial framework.
You may know Amanda and Mandana from their schools and or their transformative course for non-BIPOC herbalists called Woke Without the Work for those seeking to move beyond optical support and towards active and embodied practices of equity. This a virtual course that we HIGHLY recommend to all non-BIPOC herbalists and herbal product makers.
This In Living Color digital space is meant to center the needs and voices of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. It’s designed by and for BIPOC participants, providing a refuge for people to gather, connect, rest, and share in the celebration of lineages and lived experiences. It’s also a place for BIPOC participants to access emotional and energetic support throughout the duration of the conference.
We're beyond grateful for all the incredible work these two do in the world and so grateful for this space at the conference. Join us for the conference, happening tomorrow ❤️❤️❤️

Getting control of your product identity and regularly testing for contaminates is a big responsibility as a business, and it can be confusing to understand where to start. Amanda is an expert in this space and will walk us through where to begin and how to navigate testing on a budget.
Amanda Vickers Souther (she/they) is a conservation biologist, medicinal plant chemist, and self-trained formulator of natural products. Have you ever tasted Rasa and been like, "Dang, that taste real good?!" Well, it's not just the excellent formulation; it's also all the extra love they put into the supply chain and sourcing.
Like Rasa, many herbal businesses start small, buying a few pounds of herbs and other ingredients from suppliers that provide everything. But what do you do as your business grows and you need larger quantities? How do you find specialty suppliers? Is it possible to shorten your supply chain and work directly with growers and producers? How do you develop good relationships with suppliers?
These questions and more will be covered to help you develop the supply chain that meets your business needs AND ethics. This session will be held during the main event, happening in just SIX DAYS!
Ben LeVine will be leading this super informative workshop. He is the Co-Founder & Chief Herbalist at Rasa, an adaptogenic coffee alternative company. He leads formulation, sourcing, quality, and herbal education. Before Rasa, Ben was a senior herb buyer for the tea company Celestial Seasonings, where he purchased 10 million pounds of herbs a year worldwide. He's an alumnus of the Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism and the Maryland University of Integrative Health.
