Alex Katz is known for bold, striking portraits with vibrant color. In honor of his birthday a custom rug we designed (woven by Patterson, Flynn & Martin) incorporating the lush, deep green from his painting into a contemporary arch motif for a Manhattan duplex.

For the last decades of her storied and astonishing life, Iris Apfel was rightly known as a style/fashion icon and inspiration for living life to the fullest at any age. But Interior Designers also admired her and husband Carl for their creation of the Old World Weavers fabric house. Taking bold, yet classic patterns and having the best mills create beautiful fabrics - which we still use today, even in ultra modern interiors.

Old wine casks, no longer suitable for aging, were used to create a large table in the Private Tasting Room of the Mayacamas Vineyard in Napa. Topped with a gorgeous slab of Marron Graciale from ABC Stone, the table also provides storage for wine service. Photo credit

Ravenna is a must for both the design and history enthusiast. The mosaics are astonishing in number, beauty, and state of preservation. The size of the city also makes it extremely approachable and highly walkable. Massively inportant for a short time as the Roman Empire decamped to there, before going on to Constantinople, the buildings are of the highest quality. But then it never regain importance and was not build up and over like Rome.

The Winter Show at the Armory has restored its focus on early American antiques with some European Antiques, jewelry and other things mixed in. Did find some lovely pictures

Arman is without question one of the most important artists of the Nouveau Réalisme movement that emerged from France in 1960. Taking or replicating everyday objects and creating sculptures or assemblages. Though many pieces of his work were bought directly from his amazingly wonderful widow this piece was found at London location and was shipped to Asia where it rests on a custom paint splotch carpet executed by for the children’s playroom within a 200,000 square foot palace.
