Sentenced to death for no crime- no offense committed.

No really. It was a nice cesspool we got to live in. We didn't have responsibilities towards each other or an unseen God. Yes, we were slaves to individual problems and distractions, but at least we didn't have "false" hopes and expectations.

Some of us are needing a reset and to pull back a moment and pause to think on how much we can be grateful for.

One concept of giving starts with the premise that all we have is God's and that we have a privilege beyond the commandment to share what we have. Keeping 90% of our income, time and talents for ourselves is one place to start. Gratefully sharing our first-fruits to a greater extent of 15%, 20% or more not only shows thankfulness, but also sensitivity to the needs and struggles of others.
