What're the Odds Rescue
We don’t simply want to adopt an animal to just a home, but their everlasting one.
Located in Upstate South Carolina
At WATO Rescue, we strive to ensure each animal that makes a pitstop to us on the road to their destined home is perfectly matched.
It has been 2 weeks since Hurricane Helene made landfall here and left destruction in its wake. We lost power for 12 days, but thankfully all of our babies were safe and sound. We checked in with each adopter who was in the path of the hurricane, and we're so happy to know that they were all safe, too.
We're still trying to get back into a routine since everything was flipped upside down. The babies didn't seem too bothered by the power being out (as long as their toys were readily available). I'm sure they're glad to have their cat tv back!
Since our AC was out, we went through our wet food faster than usual to keep the babies hydrated and cooled down. If you'd like to help us keep the babies happy and fed, please feel free to donate some food at the link below. They're not picky, just always hungry! We also have some other needed items that are on the list, too, but food is always our priority. All ways to donate are listed below. Thank you for helping me help them. I know we’re all struggling right now - we’re eternally grateful.

We hope everyone is staying safe. This hurricane was no joke, and Greenville is still feeling it. We are sending all of our thoughts and love to everyone affected.
*Pictured is Finch with his favorite toy. He is still available for adoption!
637 days. That is how long Filly has been waiting to be adopted. He has been waiting so patiently while his perfect forever home finds him. Filly is such a sweet and loving boy, asking only for chin scratches and head kisses. He likes to be held like a baby just so he can be close to you. When you can’t hold him, he insists on walking in between your legs so he can wrap his long tail around you while he purrs. He’s a chatter box (especially when he’s hungry) and will tell you as many stories as you want! He loves cat trees, snoozing in sun spots, and playing with his friends. He can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once you’ve earned his love, you couldn’t possibly imagine never having had it.
Filly is almost 2 years old, fixed, and up to date on his shots. He loves cats and would love to go to a home where he can have a buddy to snuggle with. He does great with dogs with time.
If you think Filly might be the boy you’ve been looking for, please fill out an application at this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc94gpsWGSWcIYuWlBWYszZi3xM2326r_3ir4Kifl_RANVM5A/viewform?vc=0&c=0&w=1&flr=0
I’m 26 today! With that being said, all the animal rescue I do is based on my own funds and generous donors. If you’d like to start this next year off on the right foot, please consider donating however you see fit! All ways to donate are below. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Tomorrow is my 26th birthday! You know what that means - I’m asking for donations for my rescue What're the Odds Rescue! Any and all donations are appreciated, as I’m an independent rescuer and rely solely on my own funds and generous donations. As you know, funds raised go towards food, litter, medical expenses, shots, etc. In just 1 year, we have helped 3 blind babies, 1 half blind baby, 1 with autoimmune disease, and a plethora of healthy cats and kittens. We also did our first dog adoption this year, too! Thank you for helping me help them - I couldn’t imagine my life any different.

Here are some babies we’ve helped just this year! 🫶🏼
Goose, Finch, and their cousin Alby wanted to share an important message!
“Hello, we ate all the food 😹 We are growing babies after all! If you want to help us grow big and strong, please send us some food to nibble on. We eat wet, dry and sometimes a stray q-tip that hit the floor. We’re not picky at all! Thank you!”
If you’d like to feed the growing gremlins, all ways to do so are listed below! Thankfully all of our fosters are great eaters, but goodness do they love to eat 😂

We have news…
RAE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! 🥹
Rae (now Bee 🐝) has been adopted into her forever home. She now has a new brother and is absolutely in love with her new mom! While she is so missed, we are so happy for her and all of the progress she’s made. When we got the message about a tiny girl alone and sick, we knew we had to intervene. It took months of TLC, and then more months of waiting for her to grow so she could be spayed. From a tiny, frail sick kitten to a big girl full of love and sass, we cannot thank you enough for helping us help her. But now, all the hard work is done, and she has officially found her forever family and we could not be happier!
Enjoy the pictures of cutiepie’s story from beginning to her new home below!
Goose update 🪿
Goose’s appointment yesterday went well. We ran some bloodwork and everything came back normal, although his protein is a little low, which is expected since he hasn’t had much of an appetite. His blood sugar is stable, which means the karo syrup + nutrical we were doing worked, although he still wasn’t eating enough. We now have him on an appetite stimulant and are monitoring him. Goose was as sweet as ever at the vet, and continues to be his dorky, loving self at home. Please continue to send Goose all the good vibes and positive thoughts as we continue this regimen.
The total for Goose’s appointment was $168. As always, we are so grateful to anyone who supports us and helps us help our babies. We can never say thank you enough!

Goose needs our help!
Goosey boy hasn’t been feeling the greatest over the last week. Last weekend, he was slightly lethargic and not interested in food, so he saw the vet Monday. We ran a blood glucose test, which came back low, but was unsurprising since he hadn’t eaten much. Since his appointment Monday, Goose has been getting a sugar concoction of karo syrup & nutrical every few hours for added sugar and calories to stablize his blood sugar, which should have made him want to eat, but it hasn’t. So back to the vet we go! Goose will be getting bloodwork to see if there is something underlying going on which is causing his disinterest in eating. This appointment is estimated to be about $150-200 depending on the tests he needs. As always, we’ll do everything we can (and then some).
If you’d like to help us help Goose, please consider donating to our Paypal or Venmo listed below. Goose is so loved, and we just want him to be himself again.

See you soon! 🤍
Take in a momma and babies they said..it’ll be fun they said!
Guess who has coccidia? Finch, Goose, and Momma Penguin - that’s who!
Finch had been vomiting periodically overnight and saw the vet this morning. He tested positive for coccidia, so it’s almost guaranteed Goose and Penguin have it too. They’ve all started medicine and should be all better in a week or two. Please send them well wishes to get all better!
The bill from today’s visit was unexpected (thank you Finchy!). If you’d like to donate towards today’s visit, or future ones (ha!) all ways to donate are listed below. The babies have no idea how much they add up, but their cuteness pays for it, right?! Ah, kittens.

Introducing…
Finch and Goose! 🐥
Finch (aka Finchy, Finny, and Fin) and Goose (aka Goosey and Goose-Goose) are babies to momma Penguin 🐧!
These boys are 4 weeks old now and are growing and thriving each day. Currently, they’re working on their walk, learning to groom themselves, and wrestling each other!
Momma Penguin is feral, and prefers little to no contact, which we’ve been respecting. She loves her babies and is such a sweet girl to them! Once the babies are weaned, momma will be fixed and vaccinated, and go back to her outdoor life with her wonderful caretakers. Until then, she’s eating as much as she wants, teaching her baby chicks how to be the best possible cats, and snoozing whenever she wants!
These cuties will start weaning soon, so we’re in need of some kitten food! If you’d like to help the baby chicks grow, please see all ways to donate below!

Happy St. Patrick’s day from miss Rae! 🍀
We also have some very exciting news! Drumroll please…..
Rae is ready for adoption! Miss Rae has hit all of her milestones and is finally really to find her forever family. She is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Her full adoption profile will be ready on our Petfinder in a couple of days - keep your eyes peeled (get it? ‘cause Rae’s blind? haha).
Meet our newest momma and babies!
We were alerted to an outdoor girl who had given birth under a porch who needed a safe place to raise her babies. When we got there, the babies were even tinier than expected. These guys are only about a week old! Momma is doing great at loving and protecting them, but is a little iffy on human friends. That’s okay - she’s loved tenfold regardless.
If you’d like to help us get these guys off to a great start, please consider ordering them some food, or donating to their future vet care. We’re so grateful to have been able to help these guys out, and can’t wait to watch them grow!
Formal introductions and names coming soon!

Uh oh, we’re almost out of food! Between Winnie and Rae, we don’t know who eats more. Aside from the girls, we still have Filly, Dottie, and Petunia too. Luckily they’re good about sharing 😋

*Pictured is miss Winnie - she hates her cone, but she hates her bodysuit (to cover her wounds) even more! We should be receiving the results for her biopsies next week.
Who knew Amazon delivers the cutest cats ever?!
Miss Rae is doing so well, and getting so big! Her spay appointment is scheduled for next Tuesday, so be sure to keep your fingers and toes crossed that all goes well. She is such a sweetie, and has really
blossomed into such a smart, funny, loving little girl. We love our little Rae of sunshine ☀️
WINNIE UPDATE! 🐱
Winnie saw the vet on Monday and did so well! She loves attention, so she was so excited to meet new people who just wanted to rub her head and scratch her chin. The plan is for Winnie to go back to the vet tomorrow for a few biopsies and a culture to figure out what is going on with her skin. They said that they had never seen anything like this before, but they are going to reach out to some colleagues and see what they think. Winnie will have to be sedated tomorrow for the procedure, so please send her all the good vibes and thoughts possible.
The estimate for tomorrow is around $560. If you are able and willing, please consider donating to Winnie's care. Once these results come back, we'll finally be able to start getting her whatever treatment she needs. Nothing is ever too small, and nothing goes unappreciated. All ways to donate are listed below.

URGENT! DONATIONS NEEDED!
This is Winnie, and she needs our help! Winnie came from a hoarding house in Gaffney, SC that had over 100 cats in the house. 100+ cats! She is covered in open, oozing, painful wounds. She is also rail thin. Although she isn't feeling the best, Winnie is as sweet as can be and is eating, playing, and cuddling like a champ. She'll be seeing the vet on Monday to address her wounds, which at the moment are believed to be from an autoimmune condition. Winnie deserves to be healthy and comfortable, and we are so happy that she’ll be on the road to recovery soon.
If you can, please consider donating towards Winnie’s care. $1, $5, $10 - nothing is too small as it all helps us help her.
