It's not every day that one of your favorite families welcomes a beautiful baby girl into the world and you get to document some of those sweet, sacred first moments together. 🥹 Today was a day to remember, indeed. 🩷
As I held her perfect body, I thought of all the times my hands gripped each other while praying for her. As I knelt down on my knees to capture a new perspective, I thought of all the times I hit my knees with those same prayers.
And as I rounded the corner saw that first glimpse of her mama holding her tiny, precious body, my tears were instant. 😭
We are so glad you are here, Livie Kate. What a joy it will be to love you for your whole life! 🥰🫶🏼
Some mornings when my alarm goes off, I turn it off and lay there for a few minutes to brace for the day ahead. This morning, though, I sprang up with anticipation because I knew how special it would be! 🥰 It’s not everyday you get to witness sacred first moments with a beloved family who just grew by two tiny feet. 🥹 What joy!
Welcome to the world, sweet Dottie. 💖 And congratulations to the picture-perfect and oh-so-loved W family! 🫶🏻😍
After months of waiting, I finally got to have this precious trio in front of my camera! What a gift. 😍 They gave me their best smiles, and I simply loved watching them interact together. Little man didn't like my "kiss him on the head" prompt (LOL), but that one turned out to be one of my favorites. 🩵
Family photography has my heart, and the story that these images tell is the reason. 🥹🫶🏼
A senior session in my favorite place with one of my favorite girls? Oh, happy day! 🐅😍
When I was in college, I used to spend a big percentage of my babysitting money on Clemson things for my baby brother. You can imagine my devastation when he decided one day that he was no longer a Clemson fan and started cheering for our rival school instead. 😵😓 I thank this beautiful lady for bringing him back around. 😉😜
Congratulations to Kingsley, Class of 2024 at Clemson University! 🎓🎉
Speaking from experience, there is no other feeling quite like it. ✨🥹
I was supposed to shoot my first round of spring minis today.
That didn’t happen, though, because I am just shy of two weeks post-op after an emergency and major surgery.
I miss the days where I had scheduled posts and regularly shared thoughtful words with you here. I miss the days when photographing was simpler and didn’t include so much maneuvering because of unexpected trials, too. I, also, miss having so many beautiful faces to show you here as I’ve had a lot less to show over the past year. More than anything, I miss being able to shoot like I used to. ❤️🩹
Capacity is a funny thing. A humbling thing, really. We are all only able to do what we are able to do, and it changes all the time. Mine has both decreased and increased in the same breath over the last few years — I have had less capacity for the physical because the emotional and mental have required so much. Life has brought so many things to process and grieve, and it has been so tiresome.
But hallelujah, hope is still so tangible. 🥹
I can’t explain it apart from my Lord and the love pulsing through me, but hope just won’t let go of me.
Next week, I anticipate photographing beautiful people with another round of minis, and that fills me with so much joy. This business has always been primarily about giving the people I get to serve a wonderful experience, and that hasn’t changed through all of this. I am shooting much less than I once did, and that makes me more sad than I can put into words. And while I don’t know what the future holds in terms of capacity either, I will gratefully serve in this way for as long as I have the blessing and ability to. 🙏🏻
Today, as I sit outside in the sunshine watching my daughter paint in the grass, I am offering prayers of gratitude for understanding and gracious clients who have rearranged their own schedules to accommodate me. Just grace upon grace in so many ways.
I’m not sure who will even read these words since I’ve fallen so far out of the loop in the social media world, but if you do read them I hope you hear this —
Life changes, and it’s okay if it changes us, too.
Maybe, just maybe, we’ll be better on the other side of it. 🫶🏻
I’m honored to share these spring dates with you, ABP family. 🌸🫶🏻
Life has been really difficult in my corner of the world, and it has left me with little capacity to be here in this space with you. But I shot a senior session yesterday, and it was so good for my soul. My camera being in my hand feels more like I’m holding a magic wand. I just love what I get to do and the people I meet along the way so, so much. 🥹
I released these dates to my VIP email list a couple of weeks ago, right before more (and significantly worse) heartache met us on our path. Truth be told, I am struggling to market and go on with life as normal given our current circumstance. 💔 I don’t say that to ask for pity or even sympathy, but to simply be honest. I pray you can always trust me as an honest voice, an honest small business owner. 🙏🏻
This is why I decided today was the day to offer these sessions publicly — pictures have never been more sacred to me than they are today. I sincerely hope that I can give you moments to look back on this season, too. 🫶🏻
To honor the season we are in, I will be donating 10% of all profits from this spring season of photos to a non-profit organization that is meaningful to my family and me: Hospice of the Upstate. It is a privilege to honor the life and legacy of my beloved dad-in-law who recently went on ahead of us. I will think of him with every snap, every frame, every gallery delivery this spring. ❤️🩹
Thank you for being here, friends. You are the reasons I do what I do. Always have been, always will be. 🤟🏻
🌷 Email me to book your session today. And I would be so very grateful if you would share this post with your friends, as well. I appreciate you all so much. 📸🥰
My first photo session of 2024 was AMAZING! 🤩
This group of lovely ladies have been friends since college, and they invited me to tag along as they explored their old stomping grounds during a weekend together. 🐅💜 These just so happened to be my old stomping grounds, too, and every story they shared in my presence made me think of my own. 🥹
I loved my time with them so, so much! And I am definitely inspired by their closeness even though so many years have passed and life has changed for them all. Isn't this just the best? 😍
p.s. Go Tigers! 🧡
It’s February.
The month where a new year often still feels fresh. But if you’re like me, 2024 has felt more like the continuation of a long run-on sentence. My prayers have changed a lot over the past few years, and I think they’re changing me, too. Slow, painful change. A good thing that is a hard thing. 🙏🏻
As a result, my presence just about everywhere has changed, too. I’m not in as many places as I once was, and I’m not the same as I have been in the places I’m still in.
The one thing that has remained, honestly more so over the last few years of walking through hard things is this:
Ministry. 🙏🏻
This business, specifically, began as a way to minister. A really, really amazing way to serve and minister and bless. And the best part of all these years of ministry-through-photography has been you. 🥹🫶🏻
This picture here was taken during a trip I took with my family in early December, and I think it captures the essence of why I genuinely love doing what I get to do for all who invite me into their lives with my camera: remembering ordinary moments and seasons is far more sacred than we often realize.
We never know when the last time could be the last time.
We never know how kids will change as they grow.
We just never know so many things.
Photography gives us something to look back on. It’s a way to make a fleeting moment last forever. It offers an extra layer to the gift of memory.
As I look forward to all the ways I’ll get to use my camera this year, I am simultaneously reminding myself that ministry and service are my foundation. And what a treasure that is.
What a treasure YOU are, too! 🥰
There is so much I could say to reflect on this year, but a simple “thank you” just feels right. 🥹
I have never wanted to be just another photographer trying to make money on the side, and I pray that has translated in the way that I serve. 🙏🏻 This business started as a two-fold service project, and it has gratefully turned into so much more than that. Every person and family that stands in front of my camera receives more prayers on their behalf than images in their inbox, which is exactly the way I think it should be. I hope you walked away from every interaction we shared feeling a little lighter and a little more loved. 🥰
May you find rest in between the already and the not quite as a new year dawns, friend. You are so very beautiful as you are. 🫶🏻✨
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting me with your moments in 2023! 🥰
It feels precious to end a year of photography with new. 🥹 A sweet baby boy, to be exact. What joy!
I got to photograph big brother's birthday session last year, and immediately fell in love with this darling family. It never gets old to be invited into such sacred moments, and I appreciate it a little more every time. 🥰🙌🏼
Congratulations to the Hornsby family, just in time for Christmas! 🎄✨
I missed having this family in front of my camera last fall because of conflicting schedules, so you can imagine how THRILLED I was to be reunited with them this year!! 😍✨ It's amazing how much bigger kiddos get in just two years. 🤯
All the heart eyes for the beautiful & kind Hicks family, always and forever! 🥰🫶🏼
Breaking news: I got to photograph a gorgeous family this afternoon! 😍 Most of the leaves are on the ground now, which means it's the time of year that makes me feel like I'm walking on streets of gold. 🍂✨ That plus this family's magic made for a wonderful Monday! Have I mentioned how much I love my job? 🥰
Also, breaking news: this is my final week of photography sessions for 2023! 😱 It has been an amazing year, and I am so grateful for all of the beautiful people and families I have been able to serve. I've been on a bit of a journey personally in 2023, and a theme has been an invitation to lean into my limits (a phrase I learned from a beloved author I have gleaned so much wisdom from).
I hope to share more as I continue to wade into a slower pace, but for now I'll just say what's important -- I genuinely love y'all, and I love photographing you. 🥹 This business has always been so much more than just a business, and all of YOU have been the very best part since day one. 🫶🏼
Tomorrow is my final day of mini sessions for the year, which means it’s my final big day of photography for 2023! The past four weeks have been full in the best way, and I have enjoyed this season more than any other fall since I started my photography business. I’m just so grateful! 🙏🏻
To kick off this weekend, I got to spend time with one of my favorite families. 😍 Mom’s request was simple and beautiful:
“Anna, will you come capture us as we are?”
🥹
I offered a yes with zero hesitation, and tonight we got to make it happen. They prayed together, set the table together, ate together, reclined on the couch together, and enjoyed their favorite things outside together. It was perfect. ✨
I told someone today that I am in the business of helping people see their own beauty, and I think that describes my job so well. I love being invited to such sacred moments. My heart overflows!
Isn’t this family just delightful? 🥰
True story: I am surprised my heart can hold all the love I have for this family. 🥹🥰
They recently welcomed sweet John Robert into the world, and I got to meet him this morning. He is as sweet as sugar! 🩵 Jackson & Addison are the proudest big brother & sister, too. It seems like just yesterday that they were being photographed for the first time! 🥲😍
Congratulations to the oh-so-wonderful Davis family! 💙🩷💙
p.s. Did I dance to Blippi songs during our time together? Yep. And I loved every minute! It’s not lost on me how much these pictures mean to families, and I will always do whatever I can to get those smiles mommy and daddy want. 🤠😅🤗
This is what you get when your friends AND the leaves are golden. 🥹✨🍁
I have been loving these people for a looooong time, and it is always so fun to have them in front of my camera. Lucky for me, I got more time with them than usual this year. Hip hip hooray! Lots of smiles, laughs, and silly moments -- which makes for happy, happy me. 🫶🏼
They get more beautiful every year. Just look at them! 😍
Good morning, beautiful people!
I have gone hiking the previous two days, and it has been so good for my soul. 🥹 It has, also, been so inspiring, too! I am so grateful that fall photography season is upon us. It's the most majestic time of the whole year! 🍁✨
