Snaps to Pace University’s 2024 scholarship recipient, Anthony Guerrero! He was awarded this year’s Frederick Dobens Scholarship.
Anthony expressed his thanks to the alumni saying, “As a financially independent student, it has been a challenge at times to be able to afford my necessities and education. I found myself juggling three to four jobs at a time. This scholarship will enable me to continue my education with less of a financial strain.”

Joe thanked the alumni who continue to support the Educational Foundation saying, “This scholarship will go a long way to help me finish my final year of college, which is a big relief because my parents are not able to help this year.”

Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity at Baldwin Wallace University
Four gold medals! 🏅🏅🏅🏅Harrison Dillard (Baldwin-Wallace) was Pilam’s winningest Olympian. He won his first gold medal in a 100m race that ended in a photo finish at the 1948 London games, and added a 2nd gold in the 4x100m relay. In 1952, he garnered his 3rd and 4th gold medals in Helsinki in the 4x100m relay and the 110m hurdles.

Gabe shared how he plans to carry forth his Pilam values as a teacher. “A teacher is one of the jobs that can influence the elimination of prejudice because you see so many different backgrounds, people and experiences… people who really see the prejudice and differences in the world. It’s your job to step in to face this challenge and show others that there is a better way through understanding.”

Last Saturday, brothers headed upstairs to the Wrigley Rooftops to connect and catch the Diamondbacks take on the Cubs for the 2nd Annual Chicago Alumni Weekend. Brothers from Illinois, Florida, NC State, Vincennes, Baldwin Wallace, Iowa, Indiana, and Temple were all living out Not Four Years, But A Lifetime to represent their chapters! We can't wait to see you all in Chicago again next year!
Amin Nikfar ’06 (Cal Berkeley) is a two-time Olympic shot putter who competed in Bejing in 2008 and London in 2012. Amin said, “I don’t have the story that Sports Illustrated wants, but I have the one that doesn’t get told very often. I had a great opportunity to travel the world and compete at the Olympic games. It was a pretty cool affirmation of hard work to be at the same place, and doing the same thing as the guys who won the medals.”

Are you fired up for the start of the 2024 Summer Olympics? After winning a silver medal in 1956 🥈 and a gold medal 🥇in the 1960 Decathlon, Rafer Johnson (UCLA), was honored with lighting the torch for the opening ceremony of the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Matt Conde, a junior studying astrophysics and planetary science, said of his scholarship, “It’s an incredible feeling knowing that alumni across the nation are contributing to my education.”
