A reminder that the GIYRA BBSB End of the Season Celebration is this Wednesday July 24th from 5-9 PM at Rev'd Up Fun at 19830 West Road in Woodhaven.

All GIYRA BBSB Players and their families, siblings, friends, etc. are invited to join us for a great night of Games, Rides, Laser Tag, Ropes Course and Pizza! Tickets are $30 per child, and that includes your admission to unlimited rides and attractions, pizza, pop, etc and then game cards are available for $10/piece with 50% of the funds being donated back to GIYRA to help for our Field Development Fundraising.

Congrats to the 10U Softball All-Stars who were tournament champs this past weekend!!!! A great day of games capped off with a thriller!! A thank you to the coaches who spent the extra time to coach this amazing team! Congrats again team!

Just a reminder that after the parade all kids will be taken back to the high school for pick up!

Due to the weather and resulting field conditions, all T-ball games for Wednesday, May 29 are cancelled. All coaches have been notified and you should receive word from them as well.

Opening Day Postponement!

Due to the forecast for tomorrow morning we are postponing Opening Day until Saturday, May 18th. The forecast is expected to cause unplayable fields, disrupt the games, planned events and photographs.

More information will be provided next week as the day approaches and we are able to gauge the weather. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

All scheduled games for T-Ball and 8U Baseball will be played, this upcoming week, according to the schedule. Coaches for those age groups have been notified.

If you signed up to volunteer on signup genius the date has also been altered. Times remain the same.

Opening Day Update!!

We were made aware of a schedule conflict involving some games. An updated schedule will be going out soon.

Jerseys are expected to arrive this week! Keep an eye out for more information.

URGENT REQUEST FOR FIELD MAINTENANCE SERVICES! We were just notified that the company hired to handle field maintenance for the upcoming baseball and softball season can no longer provide the service. Therefore, we are reaching out to the GIYRA community to see if anyone knows a company or individual(s) that could potentially handle this.

The work consists of raking and smoothing playing surfaces, chalking the baselines, batters boxes, and softball pitching circles, paint the outfield foul lines (when needed), and adjust the bases and pitching rubber according to the age level of play (all tasks done before each game).

We would also need them to mow the Parke Lane outfield once a week.

Games run Monday through Thursday and the work would begin the week of May 13. We offer competitive compensation for this work. For any questions, or to submit a proposal, please email the GIYRA email box at [email protected].

This is our last attempt to recruit coaches before we unfortunately have to begin to refund registrations. We have been trying our hardest to recruit coaches and unfortunately have not had enough responses. Our league does limit the amount of players per team and at this point, despite our best efforts, we have several teams without a coach:

-Three T-ball teams need a head coach
-10U baseball needs one coach
-15U softball needs one coach

We want to stress that a Head Coach does not have to be a parent and can be a grandparent, aunt/uncle, friend of the family – anyone who loves the game and knows the game! Assistant Coaches can also choose to move up to Head Coach and recruit other team parents for the Assistant Coach role. Again, without coaches for these teams, we will have to refund families and turn away kids that are ready to play.

Registration closes tomorrow, April 2, so If you have been on the fence about stepping up, now is the time. If you are interested or have any questions, please email us as soon as possible at [email protected].

Remember, GIYRA is an independent and non-profit organization that is funded through player registration fees, sponsorships, and fundraising. GIYRA's programs are operated by a board of unpaid volunteers, who along with others, generously volunteer hundreds of hours of their time to contribute to the success of these youth recreation programs. GIYRA is not run by the Township, nor do we receive funding from Township or taxpayer funds. This is why your support is so important!
