INTEGRIS Health Grove Hospital now offers a new surgery option using the da Vinci Xi robot. The first such surgery at the facility was performed by John Ervin, M.D., on April 23.

The da Vinci system makes it possible to perform surgery through a few small incisions about the size of your fingertip. With the da Vinci system, the surgeon uses a special console to control a camera and the tiny instruments used to perform the surgery.

The da Vinci system delivers 3D high-definition views, giving the surgeon a crystal-clear view of the surgical area magnified 10 times what the human eye sees. It translates every movement the surgeon makes in real time, bending and rotating instruments like a human hand, but with a greater range of motion. Built-in tremor filtration technology helps the surgeon move each instrument with smooth precision.

Patients who choose robotic-assisted surgery experience fewer complications than patients who have open and laparoscopic surgery. Patients can expect shorter hospital stays and quicker recovery times.
Surgery can be performed by making smaller incisions, therefore leaving smaller scars. Finally, there is less blood loss and less chance of needing a transfusion.

Dr. Haley Adams (General Surgeon) –hernia repair, gallbladder, colon
Dr. John Ervin (Gynecology)—benign hysterectomy
