I haven’t posted birth things in a while because and growing my business will take a seat for a few years while I mom, farm, teach my children, and tutor. BUT midwifery is still my future. As long as that is the path our Lord keeps me on! From the last 3 months, here’s an update!

Always love this. Many verses that go with this perspective. Reacting with the fruit of the spirit and not out of fear. Trusting in our SAVIOR

Your family doesn't know how much difficulties and pressure you go through in your daily life or in your business.
And your job doesn’t know the circumstances of your life and your home.
Your friends and loved ones will not understand the size of the new and old responsibilities that are above you.
And your partner is always waiting for love and support from you, and he will not understand the amount of pressure you go through no matter how much you talk and explain to him.
In conclusion, no one feels about you but yourself.. No one will understand what you're going through.
Keep going.💯

Cold morning, warm mug, baby on the way!

All the baby snuggles! But even more so, the closing appointment with momma checking on her well-being! Years ago when I was certified, I will admit I was ALL about those babies. Babies are cute and I wanted to be involved with witnessing the miracle of birth and that was my purpose for pursuing birth work. BUT GOD haha. Leave it to our Savior to change purpose and intention in our hearts! The instructor once said you have to care about women’s health to be a birth worker and in the back of my mind I was like, well crap, that is not my passion. But God! Through these years of ministering to all these mommas and families and working my tail off to support them physically and emotionally through pregnancy, birth and postpartum my heart CHANGED! These moms changed my heart, witnessing their strength love and faith. And I fell in love with woman’s health alllll the way. So thank YOU all my mommas. You all are the heroines here!

Birth can be intense, and strong, and powerful, but birth also brings moments of vulnerability, tenderness, and beauty. 🖤

This is what we doulas hope to hear. Success. It can look different. But if it’s success to the mom it’s success to us. I love this so much and have never been so happy as a doula for a mom. She fought hard for what she wanted and spent so much time in pain in her pregnancy fighting to wait to go into labor naturally when some of her people were against it. And her birth was the most peaceful I’ve witnessed because she breathed at a 10 for hours instead of pushed. I fell in love with this momma and baby instantly.

I wish I could convey the strength this momma had. All that she overcame. I’m so proud and love this family so much!

When your depression consumes you, reaching out for the help you need can feel impossible to accomplish. Your doula, midwife, or other trusted birth worker is there to listen, understand, and lead you in the right direction.

My mind is often blown away when I witness moms giving birth. Our bodies were made incredibly. Birth will always uncover something beautiful, even when the plan goes to plan B and moms feel out of control of their once seemingly beautiful plan. Most often this beautiful thing is strength she didn’t know she had.

Another postpartum visit completed and remembered forever 🤧❤️ blessed to witness these moments of motherhood blooming.

Do you know why eye ointment (Erythromycin) is given at birth?

It is offered because there were babies being born with ophthalmia neonatorum, which is a strain of pink eye caused by ghonnorea and chlamydia.

Pink eye.... we’re pre-treating every single baby for pink eye.

If mom doesn't have either of those, the ointment is basically pointless and nonbeneficial with potential of dangerous side effects...

Most expecting mothers are tested at their first prenatal appointment for either of the aforementioned STDs.

Did you know they also give it to C-Section babies that NEVER come in contact with their mother’s potential STD?

🛑 Risks of erythromycin: eye irritation, CLOGGED TEAR DUCTS, prevents oxygen from getting to baby's eyes, JAUNDICE, chemical conjunctivitis (pink eye), blurred vision that may interfere with bonding (super important in the first moments/hours), contributes to the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, has a 20% failure rate, possibility of allergic reaction.

🛑 Risks of refusing erythromycin: should mother have an undetected STD then baby has possibility of developing TREATABLE pink eye.

Giving the ointment routinely contributes to over-prescription of antibiotics. This "just in case" medical routine is a reason why we have so many strains of resistant bacteria.

Many new moms have been told at the hospital that their child could go blind if they didn’t give their new baby the ointment.

(This was a credit to someone. A doula I believe. I did a pre post and it looks like it didn’t save. If you know where you saw it let me know so I can give credit ❤️) birth and beyond LLC

Let me brag on this momma right here! She nourished, loved, and worked hard for her baby during pregnancy! Sometimes we do ALL the things to have a natural birth and then baby has a different idea of how they want to arrive 🤣🙏. Something I admire about this momma is how she was trusting in her body and went with her intuition. She didn’t fret about appearances of the “perfect birth” whatever that is! Her baby girl is so precious and I’m so happy for them!!! Alex Cook your still glowing, you did such an amazing job and I’m not the only one admiring your strength and dedication to your family. Congratulations to your new little one. She’s perfect and your an AMAZING mother. Such a pleasure to get to know you and your family!I’ll miss little Rex, he’s such a great big brother!
