Welcome to the NFL! 🏈 The 2024 NFL season starts in just a few minutes, and we have four new NYS Alumni beginning their rookie seasons in the NFL! This includes Kansas City Chiefs safety Jaden Hicks, a fourth-round pick out of Washington State, who will be playing in tonight's kickoff game against the Baltimore Ravens!

Former Washington teammates Rome Odunze and Troy Fautanu were both drafted in the first round this year, by the Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers respectively. Odunze will slot in as a top 3 receiving option on a Bears team led by fellow first round rookie Caleb Williams, and Fautanu will initially slot in as a backup offensive tackle while he competes for a starting role throughout the year.

And finally, former Oklahoma defensive tackle Jonah Laulu, who was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh round, was picked up by his hometown team in the Las Vegas Raiders after roster cutdowns. We can't wait to see these rookies shine in their first taste of NFL action this season!

Welcome back the NYS Nevada Football High School Highlights of Week 3! For our NYS Alumni Player of the Week, we have Kieran Daniel of Somerset-Losse, who carried the Lions on his back with 25 rushes for 227 yards and two scores en route to a 20-19 victory over Boulder City! Congratulations to these amazing young athletes for their incredible performances this past week!

Introducing the NYS Nevada Football High School Highlights! Each week of the high school football season, we will be highlighting 10 of our NYS alumni's standout performances. This week, we have Thaddeus Thatcher of Arbor View Jr. Aggies Football, who led the Aggies to a last-second 45-44 victory over Lincoln (CA), one of the best high school teams in Southern California! Thatcher threw for 583 passing yards and scored 5 total touchdowns in the nail-biter. Congratulations to these incredible young athletes for putting on a show this past week!

The NYS Nevada Fall 2024 Tackle Football season is just around the corner! Please take the time to read all of the details listed below:

- Schedule release will be August 31st, 2024.

- All registration and player certification ends on September 1, 2024. PLAYERS must be paid in full & certified via National Sports ID if they want to play.

- All coaches must have background checks completed and certifications turned in to receive their sideline badges by September 1st.

- Games start on September 7th, 2024.

- Please make sure to understand and remind your fellow family members about the school rules when attending games and practices, including no alcohol, weapons, to***co, dogs, or drugs on any part of the school campus. Fines will be issued.

Join us in congratulating NYS alum Preston Beery for winning Gatorade Nevada Boys Track & Field Player of the Year! He shattered the Nevada high school record for shot put (68’-10”) at Faith Lutheran, and will be continuing his athletic career at USC this fall!

With his award, Preston was given $1,000 to donate to any 501c3 nonprofit organization of his choice that supports young athletes. He has decided to generously donate this money back to NYS to help kids like him, as he played basketball and flag football with us back in the day.

Beery stated, “As a young kid, I was very uncoordinated and even though there is still the competitive aspect, NYS gave me the opportunity to progress in my coordination. It also showed me what sports I enjoy, granted, I like all sports, but NYS set a foundation for them to learn and to grow.”
