She’s outgrown her shelf home but I’m not ready to snip.

Good morning!!

I’m dropping in to say I hope you all are well and happy! I’ve been taking a social media break and focusing on my health that I’ve put on the back burner for the past 2 years. There is nothing like gaining 25 lbs. and not being able to walk uphill to help you realize you need to make changes. So if anyone wants a buddy on Fitbit send me your email for a FR!

I have lots of plants in process but not enough for a restock so I think I will go ahead and say the shop is closed for the season. There may be some purges in the bigger groups so that I can make room for what is growing over the winter. It will also give me time to incorporate more strategies to get a better life balance. I’m still around if you have questions/requests or just want to chat.

BTW….There are some REALLY nice plants coming next spring. 😉

I'm back from my trip and working furiously to catch up and get back on schedule again.🥵Montana is gorgeous and Red Rocks in Colorado is such a peaceful, stunning place but there is no place like home. If you've found an awesome place to visit by all means leave it in the comments! I love finding new places and we're always looking for new sights to see.

Good morning!

Who is already needing to bring their plants in for cold weather? What are your rituals for success? These Mahoe are the only plants I put outside for summer. I spray them pretty religiously through their time outdoors and will put them in my bathtub and continue spraying until I’m certain all pests are gone. Then they will move into the greenhouse for winter after a good pruning. They will still lose some leaves and get a little bare but they will survive until Spring.

Share your tips and tricks if you have them. I always love hearing how people care for their plants.

Has anyone had luck keeping Paraiso Verde mottled and/or variegated in their home? This plant is frustrating me. 😂. It has been giving all green leaves through winter and spring. When the greenhouse got to “melt your face off” hot it started throwing out these gorgeous leaves. I’m not sure I want to sell them anymore because they seem to be a seasonal plant but I’d also like to hear if you have found other ways of keeping variegation that I can experiment with.

Good morning!!

There will be a few small Mahoe tricolor (variegated Sea Hibiscus) in the restock today so I thought I would give some information that I’ve learned through growing it for around 5 years. They were difficult for me to propagate but I’m getting the hang of it now. 😂

This is a gorgeous tropical tree and can be tricky to keep through the winter. I would suggest a cabinet/greenhouse environment when temps go below freezing unless you don’t mind the plant going dormant. In the growing season new leaves emerge bright red and fade down to this variegated loveliness when grown outside in a shady area and perfect for giving a porch a nice pop of color. Regular pruning will be a must to keep small as it can grow over 15 feet tall.

This gorgeous Pictum Tricolor has been in the shop for awhile. I’m quite surprised but I guess the photos don’t show that there are 2 stalks in the pot for the price of one. 😂

Good morning! I’m sipping my coffee this morning thinking about cooler weather and looking forward to fall and I know a lot of people are thinking the exact same thing😂. That also leads me to thoughts of what I would like to grow through the cooler season to offer next spring. I know the plants that I am interested in but I’d also like to know what you guys would like to see. Please comment plants that you would like to see more of if you have any. I’d love to get some ideas for new challenges!
