How-to Secure Your Master Bedroom | Video #10 | #HomeSecurity Tips with Doug Huey

8-12 minutes.

Thatโ€™s about how long the average home burglary takes.

According to the FBI.

This may not seem like a lot of time, but burglars know where to look and finding your valuables are first on their list.

So, where do thieves look first?

A burglar will typically head to the master bedroom to look for your precious treasures, such as jewelry, cash, guns, and anything else you have of value.

In this video, part-10 of our series on "How to Protect Your Home With A Security System," Doug Huey, owner of The Executive Security Consultants, shares easy #DIY tips on how you can protect your first-floor master bedroom.

As previously mentioned in episode #5 of our series, forced-entry into the master bedroom is a criminalโ€™s jackpot, so any doors leading to your bedroom are of extreme vulnerability.

If your master bedroom is located on the first floor, we always recommend protecting your most valuable possessions and heirlooms that are irreplaceable.

Glass Break Sensor
In addition to contacts, sliding glass doors like the one featured in this video and any other door with tempered glass should also be equipped with a glass-break sensor. These sensors detect the extremely high frequency of breaking glass and immediately trigger an alarm. If an intruder were to throw a brick or paver through your sliding glass door, the alarm siren sounds immediately. You can view all of our equipment at execsecurityconsult.com and customize your own system! Have a safe weekend and follow up with us next week for more information on protecting your home and business.

Door & Window Contacts
As we learned before, criminals prefer entering through a door. We recommend installing a contact on every door on the first floor. Contacts also work for windows with standard glass. When a window or door is opened and the magnet separates from the contact, it communicates to the control panel and triggers an alarm immediately. View our video below see how door and window contacts can help protect your home or business.

Main Control Panel
We have assessed the areas of your home that are most vulnerable to intrusion, now letโ€™s learn about the equipment and devices you can use to protect those areas. View the video below for information on the control panel. The main control panel and keypad is where you will go to turn on and off your system. The location of this device is what is most important. We recommend installing the control panel in a central location, near or between the doors you most frequently enter and exit through. This may be in the kitchen, the foyer, the mudroom; wherever is most accessible to you.
