Dr Jahraus was able to join some other incredible Big Island docs and volunteers for the GIVE KIDS A SMILE event last week! They were able to provide free dental screenings and oral hygiene instructions to all of the keiki who attended! Everyone who visited the GKAS booth went home with a hygiene kit and prize! Such a great event and we are excited to be a part of it next summer!

Thank you Kelsey and Ryan for all the great tips and tricks in ergonomics! Dentistry is a physically taxing profession. You probably wont meet someone who works in the dental field that doesn’t have back, neck, shoulder or wrist pain. Today we learned how we can improve our posture, instrument passing, positioning the patient properly and sitting and standing spine alignment. Thank you MFD team for all your participation!

We had to say goodbye to our friend Albert from last week! He is moving on up in the world and will be an executive director for his company! He has worked with Hiossen for 16 years and we are tremendously lucky that we learned the ropes from the very best! Our journey to offering implants to our patients took countless hours of studying, training, practice and support. I truly had some of the very best behind me! Dr. Daniel Mayeda and Albert are forever friends and mentors! We also couldn’t be where we are without my implant team for becoming masters of their craft right along with me!

Fun no-prep Diastema closure case today! Our patient was unhappy with the large space between her teeth. While ortho was a good option, our patient chose to have direct composite bonding done to close the gap. No drilling required. She was so happy with the results and so were we!

Before and After: This wonderful patient of ours had an old crown that broke off at the gum line. We removed the remaining root and placed an immediate guided implant. After waiting several months for the implant to integrate we were able to restore his implant with a beautiful crown and we were all so pleased with the result! Thank you for trusting us with your smile!

Honored to be representing the Hawaii County Dental Society today at the HDA house of delegates meeting on Oahu! Always an honor to be with my Big Island colleagues and to hear from the American Dental Association President herself!

Day 1 of our dental mission trip was a success! We saw over 200 patients. We were able to provide dental extractions, cleanings, education, reading glasses, complete medical exams and even some warm clothing to our patients. You can see more of our project

Dr Harris and Kelsey just landed after having traveled 24 hours to Quito, Ecuador. They brought with them 1 portable dental chair and 5 XL suitcases full of dental supplies ready for their dental mission trip! Follow along ! We are so excited to serve the people of Ecuador!

We are SOOOOO excited to be one of THREE finalists in the 2023 Design Innovation Awards! Help us represent beautiful Hilo Hawaii in this National competition! In November of 2021, we closed the office and worked from dawn to dusk for 2 weeks straight to make this dream come true. A lot of paint, sweat and tears went into the remodel of our office and we are incredibly honored to be recognized by the ADA for our vision.

Welcome to another episode of Ew to New! This patient had a failing amalgam filling and some leaking in her small composite filling. We cleaned everything out, preserved tooth structure and left her tooth restored to its original structural integrity. Using Biomimetic techniques taught by the great .alleman.dds are absolutely essential for a long lasting composite restoration!

Welcome to the team Micah!!! Introducing our newest hygienist! Micah was born in the Philippines and grew up in Na’alehu! She graduated from UH Maui and loves to hunt, camp and spend time outdoors. She looks forward to providing excellent care for our community and improving the oral health of her patients. We are so happy to hear welcome you to our dental family!!

We had a great implant day yesterday. Placed a few implants on some awesome patients. We are so excited to restore these in a few months. There isn’t anything more rewarding than restoring a patients smile 😊 Our implant team is top notch!!

All of our patients are showing so much love to Violet this month as she nears her retirement. These beautiful flowers and lei were dropped off today. Her patients are very appreciative of her years of gentle care. Thank you Violet!

Got to spend the weekend with great mentors and colleagues! We completed two days of training in Kona with the Big Island Study Club and learned so much! Thank you .joangreco for hosting!

Our patient came in to see us with a lot of missing lower teeth. He had been using an old lower partial denture that was no longer doing the job. He wasn’t feeling quite ready to go to a full lower denture and lose the remainder of his lower teeth so we got him into a new partial denture and man we were all so stoked to see him walk out of our office with that new smile!
